So why is it just "Scream"? And 2022?! I'm sure that's all normal but just sounds a long time for something that's done and dusted, even though it probably isn't.
Scream 4 is my third favourite. There were a ton of good scenes but the uncertain fate of Kirby and its unwillingness to go all in on a horror trend (Is it a remake? Is it found footage?) sort of dampened it a bit. Also, I just wish they'd have killed one of the big three.
I don’t know why they’re calling it Scream when they’ve said it’s a continuation, not a reboot or a remake. Confusing.
They're calling it Scream because they saw how well it worked for Halloween (2018). Hopefully this will be more successful in terms of box office than Scream 4. I love all of them dearly, including the Scooby-Doo live action film that is Scream 3. They can kill off Dewey as far as I'm concerned, but not QoLs Sidney and Gale.
3 also had the ‘the one who smells the gas’ death which requires such a ludicrous amount of contrivance and coincidence for it to actually happen the way it does. And even then, it’s still stupid since ‘the one who smells the gas’ is supposed to be the one who survives according to the fax.I think I put Scream 2 and 4 equal third, and 4 really would walk away with it if not for the pacing and tone issues, it's like it's never sure, maybe due to its legacy and when it was released what to actually BE. A lot of pressure involved no doubt but they mostly pulled it off and the whole film feels like a Scream film overall. There are some AMAZING moments and that excitement of seeing them all back together was everything.
2 is let down by the ending but has some of the scariest scenes in the series.
3, well it had Courtney's fringe I suppose
Dewey does need to die. I mean, this franchise can afford it, they've got THREE to play with and one has bumbled on enough! Starting the movie with his death would create a sense of melodrama and tension it absolutely needs to kickstart the new era, if it is an era. The stakes would feel higher with one of the untouchable three DEAD.
But agreed, leave it at that with Sidney and Gail living forever.

I think the lady deputy is getting the pre-credits treatment. I’d love them to bring back the shit detective from 3 just to kill him off. I’m happy for Sid’s Dad and Joel from no. 2 to be survivors but the detective just deserves to die for being shit at his job.Dewey does need to die. If I remember correctly, 4 had a lot of script problems where the Weinsteins brought in the scream 3 writer to do their changes. Lauren Graham was cast at one point.
I’ve warmed to Scream 3 SLIGHTLY since I found out Sarah Darling was the nickname everyone used for Sarah Michelle Gellar because she was so difficult during the filming of Scream 2, and the entire character by that name in Scream 3 is based on her.Seeing the original at the cinema tonight
I’ve still never seen Scream 3.
I can’t wait for the trailer! Where is it?! I don’t speak Spanish.

It’s still a fucking dire film, though.
