Eastenders 2021

I love how even though Kheerat was looking in Chelsea's direction, he didn't even notice her until she ran straight up to them.

Can't wait for the new year terror plot, and Mick getting bored of Janine. :disco:

The thing about Mick and Janine is that I know the writers can't go too far down the affair route, because the last time they tried to make Mick have an affair (with Whitney) Danny Dyer kicked off and took an extended break from the show. They won't want that happening again surely :D

I don't watch other soaps, but is this one of the first storylines where FORUM POSTS and SCREENSHOTS OF FORUM POSTS play a major role? How (sort of) modern :disco:

Charlotte Awbrey is gonna be baffled if she ever looks for nudes of herself.

The weird thing about this whole Gray storyline is that because the writers have done so much to keep it going for so long now, there don't appear to actually be loose ends for them to pick up for the conclusion. For example Whitney and Kheerat (and now Chelsea) now believe that he killed Chantelle, but surely the only way anyone will find out about Tina and Kush is if Gray mentions it himself :o I suppose Tina's body could randomly be found somewhere, but surely that becomes less and less likely over time...

Chelsea falling asleep in a situation like this is a bit ludicrous, surely :D
This is so fucking stupid.

Could you book an anonymous cab from an app? Sure, but let’s go with the local firm where you know all the drivers, one of whom is Chantelle’s Dad.

While being so anxious, why would you put in earphones and fall asleep?

Why would Mitch (who was always previously suspicious of Gray) instantly believe him and not wake up Chelsea to question her? If she’d seen Kheerat’s messages she could have got Mitch on board.

The whole unraveling of this story has been dependent on several characters being monumentally DUMB. Whitney trying to fake-seduce Gray was the most ridiculous.

Gray still has Tina’s phone, doesn’t he? And what happened to that alleged message she may have left on Mick’s phone, before he handed it in to the police while they were investigating his abuse. We never saw what happened to it.

Kush’s murder with ALL the CCTV conveniently not working was ridiculous.

I didn't mind Whitney trying it on with Gray from the perspective of her just trying to do ANYTHING to stop the wedding, but it was definitely a stupid move had she put any kind of forethought into it.

I'd forgotten about the phone, that's true :o And he was using her bank card for a while too...

It was just that her Plan B was to tell Chelsea, and it’s always some delayed “oh no, you don’t understand, he’s dangerous” type vague warnings, fannying around for a response rather than instantly “I THINK HE ABUSED AND KILLED CHANTELLE”

Yes and WHY didn’t she show her the forum messages straight away? They don’t prove he killed Chantelle but SURELY would have been enough to persuade her she shouldn’t marry him.

It’s like it’s written by primary school children.

I’ve been reading a bit about Roger Ebert’s assertion of the “idiot plot” trope:

Idiot Plot: Any plot containing problems that would be solved instantly if all of the characters were not idiots

This is a prime example.

I did see someone say online that in the EastEnders of old, last night's episode would have had something like Whitney hooking up a projector and getting those screenshots up all over the pub walls during the wedding reception. Not sure I fully agree, but that certainly would've been much more of a MOMENT :D

I was thinking that they would drag it out until she had the baby but OOPS there it is :basil: I'm now expecting things to settle down for a few weeks, then probably the big dramatic exit for Gray will be mid-February for the show's anniversary? We'll see though :o

This is one of the most evil things she's ever done, and I'm including the murders in that :o

I've seen some complaining online that Linda should have recognised Janine, but they only had one scene together about seven years ago and Linda DID say Janine looked familiar... I think that one's easy enough to explain away. HOWEVER Mr Lister apparently not remembering anything about Stacey Slater when they interacted frequently and had multiple confrontations when she worked on the market was quite ridiculous. He'd have been well aware of her having gone down for MURDER, never mind her recent stint inside :D It was nice that they brought back such an infrequently recurring character, but those scenes probably would've made more sense if they'd just created a new market official character for them.

There's a risk they could overdo it, but I am enjoying that they're continuing to have occasional appearances from Judith Bernstein - I'm actually not sure why but soap characters having alter-egos seems to TICKLE me. The main reason I was sad about Habiba Ahmed leaving was because we wouldn't get any more scenes of Detective Habiba showing up somewhere in dark glasses or a sexy catsuit for spurious reasons, which was always just the right side of ridiculous for me :D

:D I'd forgotten about that. Maybe we need a new character played by the same actor who took a previously small role (e.g. Diane Parish previously being Lola in the 90s and Linda Henry being Mandy's mum) and then a story where they reveal themselves to be their former character all along. I'm thinking an undercover Polly Becker on the lookout for a good tabloid story again. I think of the current cast, only Phil and Kathy would have known her.
