June Brown (Dot Cotton) DEAD

Absolute cultural icon.

Is there a more iconic Eastenders character?

Fair play to her for carrying on in EastEnders past her ninetieth birthday, and even more respect to her for FLOUNCING off because she wasn't happy with the material they were giving her :disco:

She even inspired Coolio

She apparently lost her virginity in a cruising ground near my house.

My go and smoke a fag in tribute. And a cigarette.
For the non smokers I'd suggest a quick hand job at the cruising ground.

Not to imply that Dot was some sort of angel of death, but the recent(ish) scenes where she looked after Dr Legg in his final days are well worth looking up if you haven't seen them. They watch footage of the Cable Street Riots and he tells Dot about how he met his future wife there while fighting against Moseley's blackshirts before he drifts off, it was very emotional.

I hope my best friend gently puts ME out my misery when I get too old.

This is really sad but as has already been said 95 is a fabulous age to live to. I remember asking about her on here not so long ago as she has been out of the spotlight for quite a while.

Sorry but why haven't the BBC broken into programming with ongoing tributes and updates?

If Prince Philip could get a greyed out News logo then June deserves it too.

My favourite picture of June is of her traipsing around Glastonbury when she must have been well in to her 80’s, dressed to kill with a customary cig in hand.

:(

Still think that EastEnders episode with just her and (my personal style icon) Ethel Skinner was an astonishing piece of TV.

I still remember watching that - it was a tour de force for both Brown and Franklin.
