Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loveliest Time

Clever title! :)

I’m excited

The Loneliest Time wasn’t her best album, but Anxious and Bad Thing Twice are among her best for me. And her b-side albums tend to be as strong as her main albums

Shy Boy is fantastic. That intro!

The keepers for me from the Loneliest album ware Bad Thing Twice, Talking To Yourself, Shooting Star, and Surrender My Heart. All 10s.

The Loneliest Time is a great album and I am sure that Carly's new extras set will live up to the previous two.

Joshua Tree is not quite my favourite from The Loneliest Time but it is such an earworm.

I still find The Loneliest Time to have a handful of absolutely top tier Carly bangers: Surrender My Heart (a lush bubblegum fantasy of a song), Talking to Yourself, Anxious... and tracks like Western Wind and Go Find Yourself that push her quite nicely into kind of Caifornia road trip pop, Aly & AJ territory. Western Wind is such a groove.

the clip of Kollage sounds quite incredible :disco:

wonderful album. Stadium Love and Psychedelic Switch will be faves. impeccable birthday gift from the queen!

Psychedelic Switch is the standout on first listen but it seems like a consistently great album.

Need to go listen to this properly over the weekend. Shy Boy has been on a chart trajectory with funky recently- initial hit, then shelved it as a gimmick track with no legs, now it’s REALLY growing on me :disco:

I played this three times this morning. So, so good. With The Loneliest Time and especially this album she is covering different sounds in a way that she didn't with Dedicated, which was more in one (very nice) lane.

Completely obsessed with Kollage. Coming right up behind are Kamikaze, Put It To Rest and Psychedelic Switch.

I’m really loving this album. The production is interesting and a little different, and each listen is revealing a different song. This listen, it was Kollage. I’m seeing her in a few hours and I hope she does a couple of them (especially Psychedelic Sound)

how was the show miss @RJN?

I'm really feeling this album, I agree it's a major push forward in her sound. the songs feel more fleshed out and substantial, but they're mostly just three minutes. it's high quality pop.

Kamikaze is a fucking banger. She sounds great on this heavy dance-pop production. her vocals across the album are superb, quite a tasteful use of vocal effects. others could take notes! there are glitchy bits here and there that call to mind the music of both Kylie and Charli for me.

Psychedelic Switch is obviously a standout but I LOVE Shadow. what a song. I feel like this is the first time I'm really stanning Carly in a while, and it feels good. princess of pop. :disco:

the deep disco groove she's riding on the chorus of So Right is really DELICIOUS!

The show was GREAT

Firstly this was the venue, with a stunning background

She performed mostly the hits (in a gay internet sense) plus a couple from her new album (Shy Boy, Kollage, Psychedlic Switch). The crowd was not super into it (mostly they were there for Boygenius) but she sounded great, looked great, and it felt like a moment

I would honestly spend most of my time taking in that view than looking at the stage. :o

85*

i haven't listened to The Loneliest Time yet, I'm considering giving this a spin first.

NEVER OVER! NEVER OVER! NEVER OVER!
NEVER NEVER OVER!

Anything to Be With You isn't quite top tier but I love that intro to the album.

Best since Emotion.
