and she was doing the podcast and PR rounds bigging up her confidence in the poll! no more polls for you love, you can retire in a shed full of carbonated low-calorie alcohol in cans with vague suggestion of mint or berry taste.
By all accounts she had the right to do that. The post mortem on that poll specifically will be grimly interesting

Honestly Americans are stupid enough to vote Musk in as the next president if there is ever a change to the Constitution.

There will be. Watch that two term maximum rule disappear.....

He'll claim that he's technically on his third term anyway (cos 2020 was stolen yknow) so it's moot now.

I was referring to Elon Musk. Hopefully Trump will be senile or dead by then.

No doubt BOJO will be getting ideas after this. I didn't enjoy his SMIRKING on Channel 4's coverage earlier.

but I just can't fathom the majority of people saying yes to someone so blatantly evil because they figure those evil qualities are secondary

I think you’re under-estimating the proportion of his voter base that voted for him because they want an evil and cruel government. They’re not all easily-led simpletons, this was a calculated and intentional choice for millions.

Winning the presidential election to avoid going to jail is brat, unfortunately.

I was misled by that ludicrous Iowa poll (I don't think anyone expected it to be so utterly wrong, it was out by 17 points) but the result is starting to make a bit more sense to me.

Biden should've stepped down a lot sooner and allowed Harris to define herself as a leader in a proper contested primary. I don't think she's particularly to blame but the failure to make clear what she would do differently to him hasn't helped her case.

Dreaming gently of the farm he’s being sent to in two months. Bliss.

Honestly this. The agog "but WHYYY", "is everyone STUPID" musings from people (myself included) don't even attempt to get into the root of what Americans are feeling right now and why they're voting this way. If we want to steer away from extremism this needs to be studied, worked on, and frankly give the idiots at least SOME time of day. To dismiss blindly just perpetuates people feeling abandoned or that theres a big void between "us" and "them".

Yes, true. It's just a grim thought, and I don't think there's excusing the decision whatever the motivation.

I can't stop thinking about the consequences for Ukraine. Zelenskyy is gone, Russia is going to take control and Putin will start to dominate Europe. Absolutely devastating for the European continent.

Much as I am increasingly growing to hate Kier, as if the UK Prime minister was ever going to issue anything other than a statement along those lines when the US elects a new president.

Speaking of the UK, wedged in-between the EU and Trumps America, christ does it look more vulnerable and irrelevant than it ever has been.
