The Netherlands 2024: Joost Klein - Europapa

Only because Finland will swallow up the televote though, otherwise I think it would do exceptionally well. Croatia maybe taking those votes too, but I don't consider that to be a "daft" entry in the first place.

I do think the key thing for this will be staging that distinguishes it as a genuine artistic heir to Käärijä and a cut above the Croatias and Finlands. I don't think it'll challenge but I could foresee a top 10 result if it pulls that off (and isn't harmed by the juries as a result).

It’s not really NOVELTY when you strip away the video, he also seems to be a very enigmatic performer so I expect this to feel a lot more ELEVATED than Croatia and Finland.

Really? I don’t even see Finland as a sure qualifier. Croatia might have the “better” (for a wider audience) song, but I just don’t think he performs it convincingly at all.

The thing is this is the one that really probably does deserve to do the most well out of all the ones that will be perceived as novelties this year - it's a heartfelt message grounded in an actual pre-existing artistic hinterland, and forged by a torrid political climate and working as effectively as it can within the constraints on lyrics to take a stance in the midst of that context.

I declare this not the heir to Käärijä this year, but the heir to KONSTRAKTA for 2024 :disco:

Looks big and exciting. If this is drawn towards the end and Malmö turns into a giant mosh pit I can forsee a HUGE televote.

(EDIT: My phone initially typed "nosh pit", THAT TOO)

That said, this isn't really much of a live performance! :D

Quite excited to learn EUROPAPA is also the name of a brand of FISTING GLOVES.

There's something about this entry that really grates on me despite its catchiness.

I think it's him

Joost is fantastic. Love his energy. I think it will do better than some people here might think.
