Tuesday! No No No...

Greetings from Center Parcs. Which Mr Sheena booked without realising it’s clearly Welsh half term and so it’s half full of kids, but pleasingly, is also 25% full of really hot bearded Dads* with rugby builds, so…

(*- Dads all younger than me :D )

Welsh half term? It's Easter this weekend! :D

They're off here.

Term dates aren't synced around the UK like they used to be.

As I said it, I thought I should say i meant “it’s not near us”, but yes.

To be fair, it’s quite nice. I’ve never been to Center Parcs before and it’s very pleasant. I’m sat looking out at the forest, there’s a squirrel feeding on the chopped apple I put out earlier and a deer just sat in the distance. Rather relaxing all in all.

Yes, they are off here as well. I just assumed they were everywhere.

I loved the wilderness feel of Centreparcs, the families with shrieking rugrats riding their bikes past our cabin at 6am not so much.

It's only when i became an adult that i realised Center Parcs was a real place that people actually went on holiday to and not a mythical dome somewhere. I think it was roughly the time i met middle-class people for the first time.

Although i still think it's in a dome.

In relation to the content so far

Easter holidays start this Friday here. I can't wait.

Mr Ag went to Centre Parcs for a hen do and loved it. I'd very much like to go, as a cottage in the woods is right up my street.

One of them is! The indoor bits are all contained in an eerie glass dome.

My hay-fever is lousy at the moment.
Oh fuck - that's what it is.

For the last few days my eyes have been puffy and itchy and I was wondering what it was. Why does it take me by surprise EVERY YEAR when it starts?

I think this was the first year I figured it before it really kicked in. Although to be credit goes to a pupil who was complaining about it.

It the tight throat and accompanying fatigue that hits me hardest.

I don’t get hay fever in the Spring/Summer. I get a delayed hay fever in AUTUMN when the leaves start to shed off the trees for some reason. The exact same symptoms as normal hay fever but in Autumn. 🤷‍♀️

I believe that's a WEED POLLEN allergy

Moopy, and probably @Sheena actually, as we own our flat, how do we go about getting a water meter fitted? Can we arrange it ourselves or does the owner of the building have to do it?

You'll need to contact your building owner first and possibly your provider, but the building might just do it for you.
Thank you! I've been asking the building owner for weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️

Our building is managed but we just organised it ourselves. (You do own, right?)

Talk to the water company and ask for advice- for years we couldn’t get one cause of the WiFi coverage between our stop cock and flat, but it’s sorted now. Mr Sheena just went to the water company and asked when and they came out and evaluated the property- that’s your first port of call, right?

We went to Center Parcs in 1987. Had a big argument with my dad while we were there. My sister got whooping cough. I cut my foot on one of the slides. 1 star.

POSH BUTLINS innit. We went once in I suppose the late 90s. My main memory apart from the pool and the bikes is having fondue in a hollowed out loaf of crusty bread. I was like IS THIS HOW THE OTHER HALF LIVE? :disco:

My other memory is that it had satellite television and we were like ooOOOOOOoooh! :D

They also had a dedicated film channel - we put on Beverley Hills Cop and it turned out to be the uncut version with all the swearing. My mother went BALLISTIC.

Regarding HOT HALF TERM CHAT, it looks like they’ve changed it all round here as well - it used to be IN MY DAY that you got the week before and after Easter off. Now you break up on the day before Good Friday.

WEIRDOS!

I think half term they definitely do split it by county, some kids off one week and then the next. Makes sense for the economy but bloody annoying that you have to put up with KIDS OUT AND ABOUT for a fortnight instead of a week

This isn't half term though, it's full term, isn't it? Surprised it varies so much, although saying that I know at one point briefly last year my niece had her two daughters at different primary schools after a change of address, and they had different term dates.

Yep we own. Mandy was under the impression the building owner should arrange it but I thought that was odd as we own.

We've had kids in the shop this week from Leicester who are on holiday already, but most that have been in are from private school that have broken up early.

Islanders break up on Thursday.

It means we have 3 weeks of children in the shop rather than 2 :(

It depends on your local authority I think.

In good old religious Northern Ireland the Catholic schools are off from Good Friday for a week and a bit, the state 'Protestant' schools get the full two weeks, and the Integrated schools vary.

Moopy, am I right in thinking some of you like Loreen? She's at IoW Festival and I can't decide whether to go watch her.

I saw ANGELINA MANGO is there as well for some bizarre reason :D

I have no idea who either of them are but if there's no one else on when they're on I'll go see them!
