Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS (spilled) re-release out now

Her only problem is that it's the Sunday and her audience will largely be fucked and otherwise exhausted after Charli the previous night.

Everyone has to do their first headliner at some point. I remember when Radiohead headlined T In The Park in 1996 and there were complaints about them being a weak closing act. They absolutely killed it and within a year, promoters were falling over themselves to book them.

I don't doubt that race is a factor with SZA's set bombing, but I do think generally the success of her music is a lot more 'I like that Kill my ex song that keeps popping up on my Spotify playlist', whereas Olivia is clearly a very classical pop star in the sense of having a known name, face and very dedicated fanbase.

Plus she seems like she did well the other year when she brought Lily Allen on.

(Again, probably much easier for her to accomplish those things because she's white!)

Also, she isn’t white. She’s half-Filipino.

We're too old to forget the fact that Olivia is an ex-Disney star and that works wonders in her favour.

I really like 1975 and they’re way more suited to festivals than Olivia.

Apparently Charli requested the Other stage because she didn’t want to be stifled by the live BBC coverage that the headliner gets… don’t know how true that is. She feels like more of a headliner than Olivia.

I also think Doechii is going to put on a killer show and blow them all away.

I also feel like the 1975 are more mainstream and have broader appeal - I feel like everyone my age knows who they are. Most people my age wouldn’t know Olivia Rodrigo.

Although the fact that, unlike Rodrigo, The 1975 barely have any hit singles, shows again how utterly irrelevant the singles chart now is

We're getting into serious book of stats territory now, but I could easily hum 3-5 Olivia songs, and couldn't tell you a single thing about the 1975 other than the fact that their lead singer gets in trouble a lot and has Loose Women connections.

I just did a book of stats with my cousins WhatsApp group (there’s a lot of them)

The younger ones (30 somethings) knew Olivia. The older ones kinda heard the name but didn’t know who she was. Nobody could recall the name of a song :D

I have long been utterly bewildered at the popularity of The 1975 - they veer from the mediocre to the terrible and I just do not see it.

Well I have two Olivia albums and zero 1975 ones

I mean I know about the gay kiss in Malaysia but that's it

Of course I know about that overhyped History of Online Relationships album, but aside from their Charli XCX connection who cares.

I wonder if Livvy will have some new music or if she's just on a summer festivals jaunt?

I am VERY surprised they have Olivia as headliner and not Charli, even though I am not a Charli fan! I think she'll do good though, but as some have said, a tad premature was my first thought.

There's a festival coming up in April in my hometown and they have Olivia as a headliner too, Charli plays the same day but I guess it's a different (smaller) stage. STRANGE.

Charli's tour dates took a while to sell out and there were only 4 of them. Yes, "brat" built at a slower rate but Olivia did 8 dates at 3 arena venues last year and they went fast. She is the more successful live act right now.

Olivia is a bit bigger I’d say? Charli is very popular, but probably a little more niche than Olivia as far as international goes I’d say.
