Eurovision 2025: Semi Final Running Orders

I presume the Big 5 & Switzerland are performing in the semis again?

I’d go for Iceland and Ireland to open their semis, then San Marino and Finland to close.

HOT STAT that I'm parroting from someone on twitter is that there's not been an not in English semi opener since the producers started deciding the running order in 2013, so if Iceland is picked (and if we assume they open with someone upbeat, it might be owning to lack of options) that'll be a first in a while.

Other upbeat options are Sweden and Estonia which I imagine they'd like to save for a bit later down the line (Sweden moreso than Estonia) so I can see Iceland happening provided they're not put off by opening with a non-English song.

I'd like 'Kiss Kiss Goodbye' to close semi 2, but when the second half has six women and only two men, they'd probably prefer to use him to break up a run of female acts.

God there's no shortage of shite in the first half of semi 2 to bung in the #2 slot. I assume in semi 1 the honour will go to Portugal (they better not do it to Slovenia)

Semi One I do reckon Iceland will be considered accessible yet disposable enough to work as an opener despite the non-English.

Closing seems like either Belgium or Cyprus would be the obvious choices, unless they throw the Netherlands an apology slot after last year, but I don't think that's how they roll. I've gone Cyprus because I like the idea of a particularly male and noisy heat ending with a leather clad twink going "SHHHH!"

Semi Two I'm fairly confident Ireland will open. It's fluffy, family friendly, and they probably don't want to kick off with something as sexualised as Milkshake Man.

The second half is largely a case of what do you do with a problem like Israel? They'll probably be hyper-conscious of avoiding putting it alongside anything that might cause complaint (such as before or after KANT :D ) . There's quite a few ballads to distribute, but also some big performance numbers. I suspect they'll just race through Georgia and Israel using the inoffensive fan service entries from Luxembourg and Denmark as ballasts to keep the vibes from dipping too far south.

Malta or Finland will surely close that semi. Finland have closed a semi final relatively recently and Malta are one of the big curiosities this year so I've plumped for them.

Deviating slightly and predicting that Armenia will open semi 2 as an accessible, unremarkable bit of scandipop, and that they'll hold Ireland back as a fun bit of fluff to break up some of the weirder songs in that first half.

I think Malta would have had to close to be in contention for that really.

I feel like Norway is probably the biggest loser out of everyone. A borderline qualifier shoved right out at the start of a decent half.
