I can't stop thinking about how shit JD Vance is. I'm very convinced that he HEXED the Trump campaign. As soon as he was announced, someone tried to kill Trump, Project 2025 started flopping, and Kamala started slaying the charts. He's a JINX POLITICIAN. You'd think Trump would just get rid.
 
The US job market slowed down sharply and unexpectedly in July and the markets have significantly weakened as a result.

Does that sort of thing matter in US elections these days or is it entirely about personalities?

No it’s still important but being overshadowed more than usual for sure.
 
Oh I dunno. Biden made a big thing about the strength of the economy under his leadership. A recession hitting now could be disastrous.

I'm not sure how much it will matter to this specific election. The economy in America has been good by most measures but Biden got very little credit for it, indeed many voters saying the economy was in a bad place. Will swing voters then blame Harris if the economy actually matches the vibes they already had, and will they see Trump as the answer?

I think if the US goes into recession, it would at least give Trump a quite specific drum to hit about not trusting the Democrats with your money (whether accurate or not, but that's never stopped him before!)

Post-COVID inflation was always going to be one of Trump's talking points. He's already been using it for leverage... Even though it would've happened under any President.

No, both of them did not cancel.

Harris is going to attend the debate that was originally scheduled, regardless of whether Trump is there or not.

Trump shat himself, pulled out of that debate, and tried to setup a debate with fox news on his terms, which Harris has rightly said no to, and that he should honour the original debate.
 
I get all the jokes but it really is quite sinister what is going on in the world. It feels like we’re in a Handmaids Tale flashback sequence. I wonder at what point do we stop mocking and start shitting ourselves.

It’s fascinating to me that I’ve found someone in my lifetime with a more slappable face than Donald Trump, but Elon Musk really is the man.
