2024 US Presidential Election

"That's what I heard" "Her father's white. That's what I was told" "I was told they discovered her father was white".

How stupid is this woman? Bloody do your own research before commenting. FFS.

It’s time

Defenses I've seen on social media:

- She didn't go to school
- She was just asking a question
- She's black.

How do I understand any of these?

Amid the backlash, Janet responded through her manager, Mo Elmasri, who tells BuzzFeed that the comments were "based on misinformation."

"She deeply respects Vice President Kamala Harris and her accomplishments as a Black and Indian woman," the statement continued. "Janet apologizes for any confusion caused and acknowledges the importance of accurate representation in public discourse."

maybe she's not. a lot of younger people are not going to vote for Harris because of the administration funding and supporting Israel's genocide in Gaza. people can't seem to understand that not all voters will be willing to look past this just to ensure Trump doesn't get back in. you can actually select the issues most important to you and vote (or withhold your vote) accordingly, and many will.

Which is stupidity. The only two possible outcomes are a Harris or Trump presidency, and it's such a close election voting third party/not at all isn't a realistic or morally defensible posistion.

A Trump presidency will make things worse for Gaza, there is a reason why Netanyahu wants Trump to win. Even half a second of deploying the critical thinking skills Roan is calling for should result in an understanding that a vote for Harris is necessary even if your biggest issue personally is Palestine.

It really comes to something when ZEN can see this girls (but also we're going off topic x)

The full quotes on the previous page basically say she thinks it is important to use your vote and will do “whatever she can” to protect civil rights. I think (or at least hope) that that’s a veiled “i’m holding my nose and voting for Harris” which honestly I think is the only sensible stance here. While there are “problems on both sides”, we are talking about a wannabe christofascist dictator who will destroy the lives of many LGBT Americans.

how much worse could it be love? Gaza has been absolutely blown to smithereens under the watch (and approval! and funding!) of a democratic government. the US literally provides the arms Israel is using to kill Palestinians. it couldn't be any less complicated. forgive people for not wanting to vote these people BACK into power if they as voters stand for Palestinian life and peace.

this is probably not the thread in which to get into it, but I totally disagree that abstaining from voting is a "morally indefensible position". nobody has to vote, especially if neither candidate or party in any way represents your morals or ideals. a vote can never be a reproach, it's always an endorsement. whereas a non-vote is also not a vote for Trump. I personally would vote for Harris if I were a US citizen but not everybody has to or they're a bad person.

I'll move this to the US election thread.

The simple question is, why does Netanyahu want Trump to win? Just because you can't envisage it getting worse, doesn't mean it isn't possible. Add in the effect a Trump second term would have on the Russia Ukraine war, then the humanitarian position is that yes, you do need to vote in the democrat or things will get worse globally.

abstaining from voting is a "morally indefensible position"
If you're in California, then sure, don't vote. Doesn't make a difference. But if you are in a swing state, or a public figure talking to people in swing states, then not voting for/identifying the least worst option is morally indefensible. If you believe Harris and Trump to be EQUALLY as bad as each other, then you are not a good person.

I know right?

The French system is different but a two round election makes the second round identical to the US two party system. I suppose it’s ok to give Le Pen a pass to become president of France because I completely disagree with everything Macron has done so far :eyes:

God knows there’s less differentiating Macron and Le Pen compared to Harris and Trump and I still voted for that absolute cunt :manson:

The Democrats have positioned Kamala's domestic policy to basically just be a second Biden term, which is the only wise approach.

But she's made it pretty clear that her foreign policy in the Middle East might be the one area where she'll diverge from Biden. She's voiced her interest in curbing Israel pretty strongly.

Whether she'd actually be able to swing it is a different topic entirely though.

seriously though she looks fucking exhausted and mentally drained and a bit ON THE EDGE! I hope she logs off for a bit. this is what I was saying about being newly famous and having the entire internet build you up and then tear you down in record time.
