2024 US Presidential Election (1 Viewer)

Mad that even on that swing, Trump would hold onto an electoral college vote in fucking MAINE :D

If he loses, what do we think? Dead by Christmas?

I have to keep reminding myself that Biden winning Arizona and Georgia was a genuinely historic achievement, and if Harris loses them (assuming she holds the rust belt), it’s not necessarily a terrible defeat insomuch as a return to status quo.

Even Obama lost those states both times!

The Iowa poll actually has me wondering whether pundits have over-emphasised Arizona and Georgia when historically, Iowa and Ohio are much swingier, and just happened to not get over the line last time.

We’ll see in 48 hours I guess.

I had completely written off Iowa and Ohio. But I keep seeing polls showing Democrats gaining among white voters, which would make the Midwest more likely. Hopefully it’s just a massive blowout for Harris everywhere

Do we know what VA was at in 2016 vs this election?

This election it’s been between +4 and +8, 538 currently has it at +6

Not that 538 has been very welcoming recently, but they’re revised NV back to evens for the first time in a couple of weeks :disco:

I wonder if that’s the Latino effect.

Well her popular vote is still in decline (the one thing she REALLY needs to be ahead on) and nobody (except Trump) is really talking about the fact that polls like that Selzer one for Iowa is a total outlier from everything else.

However the ones that have the best track record are the ones leaning left. So if there is any truth to the wider modelling being broken then I think we are in for a good night.

*stocks up with alcohol either way*

538 seems to be shifting back in Harris’ favour too. Trump still ahead, but it’s gone from 53-47 to 51-49 in the past 48 hours.

This back at 53-47 in Trump's favour now :nononono:

So is anyone staying up for the election? As ever I'll be up as long as I can, with about eight screens on.

I get election day off AND the weather looks hideous tomorrow, so I'll be caged in front of the TV too.

One screen only for me though. I need the other 7

I will try and get a stream switcher sorted with CNN, Fox, and whatever other news streams I can get working.

Or are all the networks just going to follow AP and not race to announce first?

I have a gruelling twelve hour shift tomorrow but I intend to stay up at least until the West Coast polls close. There is a fridge full of wine that will help me power on at least.

I am back home late on Tuesday and have Wednesday off work, so staying up seems doable. I might just do it if the news coverage is semi-decent.
A lot of the American networks put their streams on YouTube, or are otherwise easy to access

I'll gather up a bunch of links tomorrow

I still don’t understand the mindset of people who go to these political rallies. Surely it’s hours of waiting around and zero entertainment.
