I guessed something along those lines but it is incredibly restrictive. Imposible to search for threads about The WhoA simple change of options in the admin panel doesn't work here, annoyingly. Requires something more in depth.
Suspect the reason why is because increased indexing of more terms could put strain on the server, but no idea how true that is.
The next xenforo patch is lowering the minimum search term length so that will help.Is there any real reason for this and can we disable it?

And if you use the Google function, you can start the search with "site:moopy.org.uk" and Google will only give you results from that site.Sometimes I've done google searches like this: moopy.org.uk "call me by your name".
