A song seriously damaged by overplay at the time, despite adoring for about the first 12 months of it's existence. I just had a 'on the sofa' to this absolute POP CLASSIC. I do feel it's been rather lost in the mists of pop time somehow. Also part of one of the greatest pop soundtracks albums of the era. Of course.

Not their finest hour, but an absolute ten by any other standards.

Like most of their songs, the chirpy chorus disguises some seriously fucked up sentiments. :disco:

This was my favourite song as a kid. I still reckon it's close to being a perfect pop song. Like those fucked up 60s girlband numbers, it perfectly mixes OUTRIGHT MISERY with saccharine music.
 
Completely out of sync with the rest of their "big" material, to the point that they (well, she) refuses to have anything to do with it now- they haven't played it in ages. Pity, as it's FABULOUS and was the summation of their early period really, with stuff like "Sick & Tired" and "Rise and Shine". After this, they knew they couldn't do that sound any better and moved on- which was the right thing to do. It's a shame it's their biggest hit by some way, though, as it really doesn't sum them up...

Then, a year or so later, Baz Luhrmann asked us for a song to use in his film Romeo + Juliet. We were invited to the premiere but were away on tour at the time. I still haven’t met Leonardo DiCaprio. I never got my chance, before I turned 25, to have my moment with him.

It's back around after the Pam & Tommy series (where it featured in a key scene) and subsequently the Pamela Anderson Netflix documentary, which has used a distorted version of it (likely because of the P&T link) in its promo.
 
Yeah, she isn't coming close enough for me to bother really- I would have done Brighton but it's on a rubbish day that doesn't work.

Oh and she won't wheel out any Cardigans tracks. You'll be lucky to get an A*Camp one.

I wish you could get the first one on vinyl. It's well overdue a re-release.
 
In fact, The Cardigans catalogue could do with a deluxe reworking, thinking about it. There's loads of already out there bonus material, without even thinking about anything in the vaults.

The vinyl reissues from a few years back are LOVELY, though.
