one of those slightly unfortunates songs which comes very early in an artist's career and is so good, and so clearly not going to be topped, that it kind of eclipses everything after. Carrie is not much of an artist, despite her great voice, but this is one hell of a song.

I thought Cowboy Casanova came quite close to recapturing some of Cheat's energy and making Carrie semi-interesting for a hot sec.

also part of an unofficial trilogy of deadly revenge bangers with Jazmine Sullivan's Bust Your Windows and now Taylor's no body, no crime. :disco:

anyway, A CLASSIC?

I love me some Carrie and this is her defining moment, it’s got all the venom and made me want to go out and get a Louisville slugger and hunt down my ex’s.

:D:D:D

Jark can literally do one calling her not much of an artist

Isn’t she the biggest (or second biggest) artist to ever come from a reality tv show :eyes::eyes::eyes:

Carrie, the country artist, sells out arenas in the UK but she only has one song lolz

Omg I can’t at the filthy shade of some people

coming in and liking one of the posts and then buggering off again INDEED

Is she well known in the UK?

She was massive here (up there with Kelly Clarkson), but she's faded a bit lately. This song is a classic and is one that everyone (straight men EXCLUDED) know all the words to.

She's not particularly well-known in Ireland and it's the same with the UK I'd say. Big with country fans of course, some people might know this song, maybe one or two others to a much lesser extent but that's about it.

She's never had a hit single here. Country music generally struggles to gain much traction aside from the odd one-off crossover hit.

However, she gets played on Radio 2 (our biggest station) a lot and her albums generally chart. I think she has enough of a following that she's been over to tour a couple of times.

it should be noted that despite never charting and coming out way before the streaming age, Before He Cheated is certified silver in the UK. maybe it's on a lot of playlists?

not everyone who graduates from a star-making show on TV and has a career is an ARTIST hun. Susan Boyle had a nice career - she's no artiste.

She performed on The X Factor and did Heartbeat (WHICH IS LOVELY :oi:) but everyone hated it on Twitter and it was just not the best use of the promo opportunity. It was a couple of albums too late to showcase this one I suppose.

I never understood why they didn't push this in the UK, I'm sure it would have been a hit albeit a slow burning one that didn't chart very high it lingered around the top 75 for AGES as more and more people heard it.

I love this, and I Know He Won't. But isn't Carrie a TRASH PERSON? I seem to remember her being publicly anti-medicare for all.

born and bred country star is a little conservative? a shocker!

I've only knowingly heard this and the utterly hilarious Jesus, Take The Wheel of her singles discography I think, but then I've never made much effort to investigate her career.

She's no JORDIN SPARKS.

Carrie Top Ten:

1. I Know You Won't
2. Wasted
3. Do You Think About Me
4. Before He Cheats
5. Blown Away
6. Two Black Cadillacs
7. So Small
8. Undo It
9. Quitter
10. Heartbeat

If there are any amazing album tracks I missed, let me know!

I think its more that she's hiding her politics! She faced some (stupid) backlash for supporting gay marriage

Just A Dream is my bleak Carrie favorite
All American Girl is my favorite Carrie song that I am ashamed to like

I'm always faintly surprised (and impressed) when mainstream country stars AREN'T right wingers TBH.

Instagram informed me this election season that Faith Hill and her husband are big old Biden stans, so GOOD FOR HER. I would have had her pegged as a classic Trump supporter.

If you've spent your adult life living in a big city, traveling, and meeting all kinds of people, it probably pushes you towards the left. I really suspect almost all the big country stars are Democrats

Something in the water is amazing and truly a singers song

This may be true. And even though it was a very different time, I still feel like the backlash the Dixie Chicks received in 2003 was enough to discourage ANY country star from publicly leaning left.

She is a Top 2 SCREECH-ALONG CHANTEUSE of the past 15 years for me

Any other Relapse stans?

Also, that "I Know You Won't" perf is amazing but nothing will ever beat this moment:

The shots of the other country singers just watching in AWE with TEARS is quite something

Can I also just say that seeing her live in Dublin :ireland:was one of the greatest moments of my life, I literally was floored at her vox

watching that again for the first time in ages and it is spine tingling

And sorry to keep banging on about not being an artist but seriously Carrie is surely one of a few idol/x factor winners to actually be accepted and embraced by her peers
