This is up there with Thatcher dying.

WTF! I was actually thinking of her last night, in relation to the UK Drag Race thread - she'd make a decent act for the snatch game.

Oh WELL. I'm sure Liverpool has already started it's grieving process :manson:

Never forget

Everything I know about her leads me to believe she was the Queen of Cunts, I hope we get plenty more fabulous stories now

I know she was supposedly a bit of an old cunt, but let's face it she *was* Saturday night for children of the 80s and 90s.

There is no supposedly about it!

RB who gets to sit in 1A now?

I did see Lulu hovering around OUTSIDE the First Class checkin area a couple of months ago... she was probably plotting Cilla's demise as she checked in for her Malaga flight.

Ooh I do like a good RANDOM HIGH PROFILE CELEBRITY DEATH on a SUNDAY

You can't slander the dead so let's all share our favourite VILE CILLA stories here.

I like the one about her slagging off someone high up at ITV while she was recording Blind Date, not realising her mic was still switched on. The next time he saw her he said 'Hi Cilla, it's me - that arsehole you think so little of' or words to that effect.

Since Cilla is a known friend of the pedos, are there any conspiracy theories that link this SHOCKING death with that? Was she about to turn on Cliff?

On a personal level my Facebook feed is now full of picture after picture of orange hair and buck teeth

This really was up there with accidentally watching 'It' in terms of traumatic TV moments of my childhood.

The space of 5 minutes I had 5 texts from 5 friends to make sure I knew. No one has expressed any sadness.

To quote Barbara, an old glamourpuss I met on holiday last year who spent the 60s as a waitress in the top London hotels, "She was the nastiest person I ever met, well her and Bruce Forsyth".

My ex lib dem councillor friend is the only one showing any degree of upset.

I can't remember the exact story about her being rude to cabin crew but the response of "I knew you couldn't sing, I didn't know you couldn't speak either" always sticks in my mind.

Literally all you would ever need to know

BBC News 24 haven't reported it yet. Either someone's hoping it's not true or they're putting off having to play clips of her singing.

The tweet of a true statesperson, not choosing to dwell on Cilla's staunch unionist views.

More reactions:

Angie Brown: 'RIP Cilla'

Jennifer Ellison: 'I am absolutely devastated Cilia Black has passed away!!!

What an honour to have worked with such a Liverpool legend!'

Someone off Lad Bible: 'RIP Ma Nigga'

From my friend Robbie who works for BA
'I was once working a Barbados route where the captain had to issue a written warning to her and her dear pal Dale Winton for being abusive to other passengers and the crew'.
