Croatia 2024: Baby Lasagna - Rim Tim Tagi Dim (1 Viewer)

:moira: This has now overtaken Ukraine the favourite on Betfair Exchange (and with a few other bookies too) :moira:

Isn't Sweden in a solid top 5 position every year around this time? Not being there says it all about the low quality of MF these days.

What an odd thing to share. Making himself a hostage to fortune.

It literally has the same implied % chance as the country 5th in the odds...

If Croatia do win, it looks like there won’t be the usual drawn out tension around the host city…

Are there even any alternative venues in Croatia that would be remotely fit for purpose?

That’s the Mayor of Zagreb. He’s hardly going to say it should in some other city.

I think Eurovision’s gay attendees will all want (it) to be Split.

I mean, great to be prepared, but making a statement like that weeks out from the contest is quite hubristic and somewhat making the Croatian entry a hostage to fortune.

I think there’s only Split that would be another possible option, but then it’d fall right at the start of the tourist season so there’s probably not going to be much of an incentive to have thousands of more tourists in a region that already has overcrowding problems once the cruise ships turn up.

I really don't get the hype around this at all and while I quite fancy a Croatian entry to do well, I'm not sure this is it.

If it wasn't for the "rim tim tagi dim" hook, I feel like this would sound like any number of rock entries over the years that never had this hype. The chorus is generic as fuck?! I'm not sold on his voice either.

Hoping it's kept out of the top 5 at least but I fear I'm in a minority on that.

He is very pretty though

I feel it’s probably the edgiest song a lot of the EURO-TWEENS have ever heard, also he uses the word anxiety which they like because they’re all MENTALLY ILL.
Not for the first time my dearest Lucy, y'all just ain't ready for that conversation

Croatia have gone Eurovision mad, thousands of people came out to central Zagreb to meet him off his flight and there's an impromptu concert with the likes of Tajči, Let 3 and Emilija Kokić from Riva. He was somewhat overwhelmed - I think he was one of the most inexperienced/unknown acts this year before the season started, it must be quite a shock :D he's also done super well with the interviews which I think were aiming for him to slag off Nemo, but he has just praised them.

It'll be interesting to see whether Croatia go back to the strong performer they were in the '90s, or if this is just a fluke.

Was it just be or did he seem strangely resigned during the voting last night? I guess he got his first 12 points quite late into the voting and by the time it was pretty obvious the Swiss lead was going to be difficult to surmount.

He seemed utterly removed from the whole process. Glad to see he's feeling a bit more emotional about the experience today.

Before the Croatian national final he was working in the tourist industry and was totally unknown, he then suddenly became one of the most recognisable people in Croatia and then the favourite to win the contest (I get the impression most Croatians expected it would definitely happen) - I can imagine it being difficult to know how to react, he must’ve felt a lot of pressure. He’s also spoken about having stage fright.

I also agree that by the time we saw him in the green room, it was already obvious Switzerland would win.

He shouldn’t have been. The bookies still had him as favourite going into the televote results.

I think on balance I'd have rather a Croatian win last night, but I really hope this can kick-start a return to form for them.

it will be interesting to see whether they can build on this or whether it was a fluke. Remember the song wasn’t even meant to participate in the National final. It only got through due to somebody else pulling out of the competition.

I'd say this was them building on whatever last year was, something quirky and fun that appealed to the masses who was also a great performer, surely interest will have been piqued.

He does seem genuinely lovely - Croatian media are constantly trying to bait him into saying negative things about Nemo but he hasn’t. I wonder if he’ll have another shot at some point - I’m sure he’d win Dora, but Rim Tim Tagi Dim seems potentially a one-off lightning strike moment (although his other single, Don’t Hate Yourself But Don’t Love Yourself Too Much is almost Pay TV in style which could be interesting :D)
