Denmark 2025: Sissal - Hallucination (1 Viewer)

A fifth consecutive year out for Denmark because the juries keep pushing through stuff that can't even win domestic televotes in room temperature national finals would really be quite cruel, but they'll have to learn eventually.

The production in the second half of that is just like a song I came top 5 with in ASFM a few years ago :disco:

I was thinking the same! Maybe they should stop leaning on past glories and they might do better.
If I were them I'd scrap the juries - or at least have them on a lower weighting / have the superfinal public vote only until they qualify again.

When did everyone (well, Sissal, Cazzi Opeia and Klara Hammarström) become obsessed with this brand of handography? It looks dreadful every time!

Only just discovered she’s following in the footsteps of Reiley as a Faroe Islander :disco: I wonder if their minister for culture will bother making the trip this year given how that turned out :eyes:

HAL-LOOOOOOOO!

I quite like it. I felt kind of exhausted after watching, but not in a really negative way.

It’s in semi 2 though which is not looking very competitive right now.
I've seen this a few times and don't quite get it; semi 1 doesn't look any stronger to semi 2 to me.

I wasn’t saying semi 1 doesn’t PLOP as well! Just maybe with a little less splashback.

I don't get that at all. This year is full of ludicrous bangers!

We go through this every time and it's always around the 2/3 entries mark. People forget that April is basically revamp season and it all inevitably hangs together much better than you think it will, and come final night it's almost always an absolute triumph. I see no evidence whatsoever that this year will be any different.

Anyway, I'd give this about a 5% chance of getting through either Semi, but even in Semi Two (which is the more open) I'd put it pretty much dead last, possibly ahead of Montenegro.

In most/least likelihood (IMO)

Israel - Obviously going through whatever it sounds like
Finland
Australia - Irritating but obviously shaping up to be a crowd pleaser
Malta
Czechia - Assuming it delivers on the hype this should be a safe qualifier even for them (and they usually stage well)
Austria - Could admittedly go either way and just be a mess, but I'm choosing to trust in Teya
Armenia - Bit basic but a clear candidate to improve with a revamp, and there's not much like it in the semi + they have a strong diaspora
Luxembourg - Should bring a slick final package and the French angle gives them a boost
Lithuania - They've a very strong recent pedigree for getting less obvious contenders over the line with good staging + a motivated base
Ireland - I'm not 100% sold on this one's chances not to feel like lightweight semi filler at all and it's very vulnerable to a slight overperformance by one of my 11-13 countries, but it seems to go down well with casuals.
----
Serbia - If Montenegro and Serbia swapped songs I'd say this was doomed, but history suggests they'll run close
Latvia - The breakdown of voting countries is incredibly kind to them in this semi, but possibly this is a tad too niche
Greece - Doing well in the odds for some reason but I don't see much broad appeal here.
Georgia - A question mark which could end up being an obvious qualifier, but the heavy handed government interference might land them with a dud.
Denmark - I just don't see any voter base that will turn out for this in significantly greater numbers than turned out for Sand. Also they've got no Nordic pals save a distant cousin at best in Finland.
Montenegro - Would need the mother of all remakes to become competitive. They should have just ditched the song altogether.

I'd say pretty competitive, though not nearly as tight as Semi One is shaping up to be.

I will say this is a prime candidate to have been a shock qualifier because the juries appreciated her vocals before they were scrapped. I definitely feel the spirit of BIG ANG in her. :disco:

I feel that Czechia is likely to be Måns’ only competition! (Not through my own wishes)

Georgia is rumoured to be sending some patriotic nonsense by a government-approved act :( possibly even pushing it too far a la Belarus 2021

I feel it’s still a better semi than the dreaded semi 2 in 2018 :D a semi so bad That’s How You Write A Song won :zombie:

I'd say it feels a little bit too one-note so far, although there's been a touch more diversity of late. It doesn't feel like it lives up to the standard of the last few years quite yet. I need a couple more entries I'd die on a hill for
