JADE - FUFN (Fuck You For Now) (2 Viewers)

Jade has definitely turned a corner in the last 2 month. Even if she doesn't get a big chart hit, I think she's crossed over enough now to make money from streams, gigging, TV appearances and an album. Look at Jessie Ware, London Grammar, Haim, Jungle - acts that straddle somewhere between R1 and R2. They all have very successful careers even though they can't get a hit to save their lives.

This is fantastic! I do wonder if they sent her back to the studio to write some hits, otherwise this would have been a perfect follow up to Angel Of My Dreams last autumn.

I really hope it does well, she seems so invested in the best possible way.

Fantasy and It Girl (buzz single or no) definitely feel like missteps in retrospect. The former is lovely, but was clearly too low-key to build on what she achieved with Angel of my Dreams.

However, with the BRIT victory, this might well have been timed quite well to give her the best chance at another hit.

That is a fabulous video.

If this doesn't do the business for her, it's hard to imagine anything will.

What do they play on the radio version instead of Fuck You For Now?

In at #82 on Spotify and #62 on Apple.

Solid start, but it’s all up to how it fares the next few days I guess. It would be #56 on Spotify without all the Playboi Carti tracks so actually is better than it looks.

Decent enough start, I think IT Girl started around similar then dropped the next day so let’s hope this has legs.

FUFN vs Born This Way

It works.. someone needs to do this remix please

I don't really like the video. Nick Grimshaw is bad enough, but it's just not very exciting overall. The dance section is the best bit.

the video has some interesting moments but it chops up the song too much. I also couldn't help feel watching it - who is this for? it feels like anti-GP bait. a little overcooked.

I would have settled for a super polished video for this, minus any narrative. What we got takes something away from the song for me.

It feels like the sort of track that just needs a fuck off video to properly break through internationally. She's had enough videos showcasing her personality - it isn't necessary for every single.

Eddie it is her thing darling. Possibly not to your taste but regardless of how much you talk about it she is messy. 🤷‍♀️

I get this. To be honest, I feel at this stage as if I'm being smacked around the face with Jade (sorry, JADE) as a concept rather than just giving me a good video for a really good song.

I don't know, it sort of feels like a waste of her potential. I imagine casual fans will tire of the shtick quite quickly.

I like it. It takes me back to Geri Halliwell with the statement Look At Me first single and video then Bag It Up third.

This isn't the most flattering of comparisons (sorry @Halli).

Laugh at her now but when she was big, she was HUGE. I am not comparing her voice but if you wanted character and charisma Geri had it in SPADES. So quite a similar comparison really.

HPOTW (weekend) :disco:

This is in contention for HPOTY actually, what advocacy - and just general solid pop knowledge and justice, REET!

Still seems to be top 50 on apple music regardless of vanishing from the Spotify chart. I just came here to say, what a great pop song!

I do wonder if the sweary lyrics and title are causing her problems? Even the non-explicit version on Apple Music has "Fuck You For Now" as its title.

This really is a banger.

But I do think her creativity hasn't been channeled in a true pedal to the metal moment yet, so it all comes across a bit erratic (see FUFN video, Brits performance). Ingredients are all there, but needs an edit.

If that #18 position includes pre-ordered physicals, she's going to be considerably more frontloaded than usual.

But I guess ending up at #31 or #51 in week one shouldn't mean as much if we know she's got sustained support from radio playlists.

#20 on today’s mids. Still outside the Spotify 200 but a new peak of #47 on Apple.

Gained a bit on Spotify yesterday at least, and up on Apple, iTunes and YouTube, so not too bad - looks like she’ll easily stay top 40 now, potentially top 30.
