Our last double elimination evicted Love Generation's second best effort and Lina's solo debut, proving once and for all that Moopy is not a misandrist community.
Love Generation - Just a Little Bit
Songwriters: RedOne, John Mamann, Jean-Claude Sindres, Teddy Sky, Yohanne Simon, Bilal "The Chef" Hajji
Love Generation's second Melodifestivalen appearance wasn't as joyful as their first outing. The decision-making process was above their heads, closed, and the plans were generally very rigid. Red One kept busy across the Atlantic producing for Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj but still wanted to keep Love Generation for himself and dissuaded the group from collaborating with other songwriters and producers.
This could have been fine if everything else was going smoothly. However, the girls didn't like their song very much, but with no creative control whatsoever, it was difficult to change things up. Love Generation kept their end of the deal and performed wherever their management booked them. As confessed by one of the girls “there wasn't much music being created”, “everything just felt tedious and uninspired”. By this point, the girls were nothing more than Red One’s side chicks.
Lina Hedlund - Victorious
Songwriters: Melanie Wehbe, Johanna "Dotter" Jansson, Dino Medanhodzic, Richard Edwards
Dotter participated in Wrethov's 2018 Mello-camp and sat around, drinking wine with Mellie (Melanie Webhe) and Riche (Richard Edwards) by the grand piano. The girls began coming up with some melodies and chords for what came to be 'Victorious', thoroughly enjoying themselves and laughingly exclaiming “This is going to be a terrific schlager song!” while Richie sat there shaking his head in embarrassment. Her boyfriend joined in the middle of the process to rewrite a bit of the chorus and refine the production. Dino, coming from a heavy metal background, found it a bit challenging to connect with a straightforward schlager song, so Dotter asked him to think about 'Heroes' while finalising the production. Many people around them dissaproved of the song and dissuaded them from submitting it, but it still somehow slipped in through the side of the selection process.
In search of genre variety and representation, SVT reached out to Lina's record company, Universal, which promptly contacted her and suggested they might have a potential song for her. The moment Lina heard 'Victorious' she exclaimed, "Wow, I love this song! It's a fantastic, danceable pop track with meaningful lyrics!" Lina was immediately on board.
Current Standings
Dino: 4 left (3 out)
Dotter: 3 left (2 out)
Jakobs(dotter): 2 left (2 out)
We'll only have 3 days to cast our votes. This round will be single elimination.
