Katy Perry - 143 (Worst Rated Album EVER by a female artist)

Can Katy turn things around and snatch a hit?

  • yes, unconditionally

  • sure, it's never really over

  • maybe, by the grace of god

  • potentially, she's a dark horse

  • probably not (self-inflicted)

  • no, now she's just a ghost

Of course it’s a Y’ALL gay.

I really can't tell if that leak is a leak or something quickly mocked up with AI, which TBF speaks for the quality of the album proper doesn't it?

I've given this a pity listen, and fuck me, I didn't genuinely expect Woman's World to be as good as it gets :zombie:

Maybe Wonder wouldn't be an immediate skip, but the cheek of using somebody else's child and then going on about "cynical worlds" :D

I'm going to do a song-by-song review.

First, I just realised what "143" means and I found it quite cute, personally.

Woman's World - Abysmal - 0/10
Gimme Gimme - Not bad. I don't know the rent-a-rapper guy but the rhythm etc is catchy. - 5/10
Gorgeous - My opinion of the song doesn't match its title, unfortunately. I had to skip this halfway through. - 0/10
I'm his, he's mine - That's quite catchy, much better than the previous 2 singles (I'm guessing it's a single? I saw there is a video) That Doechii girl adds an interesting dimension to it, too - 6/10
Crush - Entering the generic territory (yet) again. Her heart goes "la da da di di". I prefer it when a heart goes "padam padam". Sorry, Katy. - 1/10
Lifetimes - Generic AF. It gets a point for being (to a certain extent) memorable. - 1/10
All the love - More generic sounds. Nothing special. 2/10
Nirvana - Even more generic than what came before it. You're showing no mercy, Katy, and I'll match you. - 0/10
Artificial - "Why are you so artificial?" Interesting question, Katy. Another rent-a-rapper (sorry, these people might be famous, but I have no idea who they are). - 0/10
Truth - "I wanna know the truth, even if it hurts me". You can't complain there, Katy. - 0/10
Wonder - Album closer. A little bit more emotion, I guess. Generic beats. This could've been better, but in an album full of crap, this (sort of) stands out. - 3/10

Also, what's with the songs lasting less than 3 minutes? Tik Tok destroying music etc.

I must admit, I am surprised it took them so long to get to this narrative - the thought occurred to me that it was a bit on the nose that the song that has surely cemented Dr Luke as not worth the candle for big label artists had a chorus of "it's a woman's world, and you're lucky to be living in it".

This has been a HUGE project.

Dido actually sowed the seeds with her hit parade song White Flags, which said " I will go down with this ship"

And that is what Kati Perry has done, she has gone down for the good of all of pop music just like Jesus and Dido

I will listen to the album having this perspective in mind now.

As if I'd subject myself to THAT twice

Of all the narratives, intentional flop is an audacious one. She's not Bellefire.

I will listen to this album this evening and provide my thoughts, prayers and reflections

How DARE you besmirch the Good Lord's name with this heathen!

And also JESUS!

Apparantly #4 in the midweeks, just about fending off tough competition from the likes of Terrorvision and IST IST

Well it WOULD be negative if not for that traitor @ZenGiraffe

I bet @Pipo listened to it as well the little rat. Sat there staring at his Spotify like a bottle of Jack Daniels wondering whether to dive in or flush it down the toilet.

We all know he doesn’t have the WILLPOWER!
I did stream it with an open mind YES, just like I do with everything they recommend me.

I found it to be the most boring, lifeless, cold, and calculated thing I've heard since the Pandemic. No replay value, no fun, no NOTHING. She wanted to do something retro and resorts to that man who makes it seem like his knowledge about dance music is limited to mainstream, watered-down house music released in NOW compilations. There's no effort lyric-wise either, it seems a bit strange there are no songs with middle 8s or ad libs to be found at all; it gives rushed job but at the same time I feel bad for her cause she quit her most important gig (American Idol) to record this poor excuse of an album made mostly with AI.the first 4 tracks are diabolical but I genuinely liked the two last songs Wonder and All The Love. also, I can't believe she dares to include a song that sounds exactly like Dark Horse in 2024.

and again, the lyrics lol

This wet fart is Vernon Kay’s Album of the Week on Radio 2. Fortunately, my boss called just as it was being introduced so I missed the actual song.
