L∀DY GAGA - MAYHEM (LG7)

The Fame is a pretty varied album. I mean 'Eh, Eh' comes directly after 'Poker Face' and that song is MANY THINGS but a rehash of 'Poker Face' isn't one of them.

I listened to The Fame only yesterday and was thinking how it really covered a lot of bases. I mean, even just looking at the five (proper) singles, only Just Dance, Poker Face and LoveGame are arguably thematically similar, but Paparazzi and Eh Eh are cut from entirely (and separately) different cloth and then you've still got Summerboy, Boys Boys Boys, Brown Eyes and Paper Gangsta which sound NOTHING like those three singles, at the VERY LEAST.

It always passes me by that neither Hung Up nor 4 Minutes reached #1 (in the US at least). Was Music during 2000?

Music was in 2000.

Hung Up was WAY TOO GAY for US radio.

OTT: 4 Minutes was calculated to be HUGE in the US yet it only reached #3!

back on topic, my issue with The Fame is that many Red One songs use the very same backing track in different tempos so, while they don't sound alike on the first round they SOMEWHAT DO after several listens.

HUNG UP 'only' peaking at No. 7 in the USA was due to homophobia, whilst 4 Minutes 'only' hitting No. 3 was due to AGEISM

Get it right PIPS!!!

yeah I find The Fame quite samey. it's not that they're all the same genre of pop per se, but they all use very similar sounding synths. it's the classic debut album mostly made up of solid/interchangeable album tracks that had been knocking around for a while, plus 3-4 singles recorded later that are a huge step up.

there are outliers though like Eh Eh aka THE BEST SONG EVER

4 Minutes was actually huge, it was released during a time of a very successful period in the downloads era, and was doing huge numbers at #3 and stuck around the top for a while. I remember us all following it on moopy.

As a result, rightly or wrongly, 4 Minutes is actually one of her biggest singles (in sales units) of all time.

Really that can be applied to Hung Up. The fact it actually IS one of the biggest selling singles worldwide of all time when it fell in between the cd single/ download peaks, is extraordinary.

album announcement rumoured for 2nd Feb with a one-word album title that's a synonym of "chaos". black and white artwork with a cracked mirror effect.

Lady Gaga stuns in photo taken of her right-clicking and choosing a synonym.

Include her name so it’s LADY GAGA DISORDER or DISORDER BY LADY GAGA rather than DISORDER- Lady Gaga.

Dismissed remix featuring giggly spoken word interlude by Janet Jackson is already my favourite song of all time

album title and artwork discovered in the website source code. I'm not joking but having seen it I wish I was...

MAYHEM

that artwork really is ugly as shit. hate black and white album covers nine times out of ten.
