Old TOTP (BBC4)

Also doesn't Johnny Mathis do a lovely I'M STONE IN LOVE WITH YOU? I never could stick the STYLISTICS, too screechy by far

Also WHY is Lulu doing an awful version of TAKE YOUR DADDY FOR A RIDE? I do like the audience being UNIMPRESSED in this era. There was one girl who was having NONE of GLORIA GAYNOR :D

The Outhere Brothers with their final forgotten soundalike. Totally forgot they had another chart appearance after 1995.

En Vogue's "Don't Let Go" 😍 so ridiculously DRAMATIC. Yes I used to sing along & pretend I was in the band :D:disco:

Belated chart appearance from The Wedding Present at 40 with "Montreal" :o

For such a quintessential OF ITS TIME one hit wonder, White Town's "Your Woman" has aged remarkably well.

"Older" by George Michael. Maybe a little forgotten amongst the many hits from the album, but utterly undeniably brilliant.

TOTP 88 with The Stranglers covering The Kinks.

I've always had a huge crush on Hugh Cornwell. In fact I think I still WOULD now even though he must be about 75.

Jesus wept, how on earth did anybody ever listen to 'Come Back Brighter' by Reef for pleasure? I can generally accept people have music taste different to my own, but this is like Guantanamo water torture. :zombie:

I'm still mostly in 75 and why isn't it more widely known how much ONE NIGHT IN HEAVEN ripped off this

Also DIAL L FOR THE LOVE SQUAD is fabulous :disco:

Michelle Gayle returned with a banger in "Do You Know" :disco: Shame THAT WAS THAT one single later. I still love her first album :shy:

I'm not sure what the Moopy CONSENSUS is on "Passion" by Amen UK but I've always thought it was a bit LACKING in comparison to the many other 90s dance bangers out there.

LOVE Do You Know and was thrilled when it got a second wind via Angel City a few years later.

But Sensational was a really boring follow-up and I don’t recall much else of note on the album.

Even in the days of discounted first week singles, I never got why enough people bought "Ain't Nobody" by LL Cool J to hit number 1. Blandy arsed version of an already over-covered song. Perhaps the most forgotten number 1 of the decade?

"You can take it girl, stop running from it" is also an unpleasantly RAPEY lyric :o

I'm weeks behind but Professional Widow really was the shot the arm 1997 needed to launch.

Peter Andre's I Feel You objects strongly.

Blur launching their heroin and temazepam era.

Albarn still immensely fuckable in early 97.

Oh thank goodness for No Mercy.

We're really getting into the era where they didn't play top 10 hits as standard. They've missed Mark Morrison (funny) and En Vogue (sad).

I used to really hate Placebo. I saw them a few years back and they were solid.

I bet Brian Molko has a tiny cock.

This lead singer from OTT has the tired eyes of somebody who's been holding out for his big pop break for at least 5 years too many.

Also, what a terrible load of old slop!

"She Makes My Nose Bleed" by Mansun. Still got the CD single, they were generous with the B-sides.

One of the most innovative & underrated bands of the Britpop era. I was hoping for a reunion but I feel the TIME HAS PASSED at this point.

Cover of an Osmonds hit as if it wasn't already obvious they were sub-Boyzone TOSH (& I can't STAND Boyzone)
