Giorgia topped all the juries every night! It was the televote that sunk her. I still don’t understand how she ended up 6th total though??!

Didn’t Angelina have to be basically forced over the line by the juries last year too?
 
I will say that although I enjoyed most of the female entries this year, not many of them felt very competitive in the way La noia and Sinceramente were last year.
 
At the end of the day, despite their profound philosophical and cultural differences, both the Swedes and the Italians just want the sweet sweet taste of Lucio Corsi's engorged lizard :(
 
So not quite as stark but still not great, particularly if you take 2020 out when there was quite a pointed effort to clip the wings of every male entry to try and redress a bit of the balance.

Elodie was quite vocal on one of the post-Sanremo chat shows about female acts being held to a higher standard than the men.

However the female entries weren't particularly strong this year. Giorgia outside the top 5 hasn't gone down well though. The general view is that maybe she wasn't a winner but definitely should have been up there. Some of the blame is with Carlo Conti for changing the voting format to stamp his mark on the competition. Under last year's format she probably could have won.

I know it’s an absolute fool’s errand trying to understand the Sanremo voting system, but what was different to last year other than the covers night not counting towards the end result?
 
Trash I’m baffled how she can top all the jury votes, come 6th in the televote, and that equals 6th overall?
 
I can only presume she had quite a low % coming 5th in the public vote in her heat and 6th in the public vote on the final night.

One of the other comments in the Reddit thread I linked earlier explained it as a consequence of the juries ranking every act whereas public points being awarded as a proportion of vote received, so the public vote piles points on to their faves whereas the jury spread was much more even.

That’d have meant a Geodude would’ve won under that system last year, right? :eyes:
 
Don’t they average a new prime minister/government every 9 months? They can’t be trusted with important decisions!
