{Nothing from X??? We don't want Locomotion but she's never getting rid of it is she?

I won't click on those spoilers, but this seems to be getting a roasting from the fans. I was expecting her to go all out with the concept for this given it's a world tour and Padam has happened, not deliver a rehashed festival set with half-baked production values. She's always a joy to watch perform, but I really thought she'd be aiming sky high for this.

Oh well, I still have a lovely summer weekend in Tallinn to look forward to :D

Without looking at setlist spoilers, is the grousing primarily that she's doing another hits tour with only a smattering of Tension/Tension II?

Because that's exactly what I was hoping for anyway. :D

She is doing that, but not sure if that's what the moaning is about

I think people seem generally happy with the setlist (omission of personal favourites notwithstanding). She can't cover all bases with the amount of singles she's put out.

The quality of the production, musical direction and the costumes is what I've seen all the complaints about. Barely a set to speak of, tired old jumpsuit costumes and song reworkings recycled from previous tours.

I'm not hugely concerned either way, but do we need to keep posting everything under spoiler tags or blurring it? Can we just mark the thread 'contains spoilers', or will that ruin it for anyone?

That's a fair point. Given that it only opened on Saturday and most Moopy posters won't be seeing it until May at the earliest, I can see why it's been spoiler tagged though. Probably best for me to avoid it now, given I already inadvertently know the opener and the closer and have also seen the odd production picture :D

Based on a smattering of clips, it's the laziest tour I've ever seen from her. So many of the arrangements have been heard before - this honestly does feel like a festival hits set.

I don't think she wears a jumpsuit but there is one which is actually a call back to the outfit that she wore in the LAFS video and it's all the same colour (and doesn't work) so maybe that's what people are moaning about.

DISCO is relegated to a medley and Say Something consigned to acoustic hell :(

I’m fine going without the tags because I don’t mind spoilers but I just didn’t know how others felt about it. I would assume if you are clicking in this thread and the tour is started you could assume spoilers are going to be posted

I wonder if the staging will ramp up after the shows Down Under? I know it’s notoriously expensive to ship equipment to and from Australia and some are hoping it will be a little more elaborate once she gets to Europe.

Say Something acoustic? meanwhile she does that rubbish new single with ALOK? why does Kylie Minogue hate gay men and huns?

It obviously won't be ramped up in the slightest. These types of shows need to be rehearsed and teched to the tiniest degree, there's no way they would have time to add things and do that in between legs. They removed the water bits from Les Folies when it went to Asia, but doing that would be a lot easier than dropping new stuff in.

And that's before you get to how ridiculous it would be to only present half the show in Australia in the first place.

Also apparently she's wearing something that looks like a neon green NIGHTIE during one segment.

brat. but for PENSIONERS.

there always felt like a grim inevitability of that happening.

I don't think she could ever top the Infinite Disco version anyway, so I'll live with that

Well I saw it mentioned a few times so was just wondering :D

Terry Blamey would have had a hot new (not William Baker) creative director on board long before now to kick this thing into gear.

Coming off the naff collaborations, the dull Vegas turn and the festival appearances, things really seem to have run out of creative juice chez Kylie.

she has been draining water from the same well for a bit now so it was eventually going to go dry

I think the Say Hey loons were hoping it would happen, but there's just no way :D

Dropping a song in or out of an established set up is possible, adding huge new set pieces absolutely is not.

I should have guessed something was up when she did that "reveal" post of the set on Friday which mostly just showed a row of seats. They were posting set drawings for Les Folies MONTHS before they'd even turned the taps on to fill the fountains!

The thing is I care not for huge set pieces or elaborate costumes. Just make it tightly choreographed, well arranged and well styled so that everything seems cohesive. The minimalism is fine but don't then resort to playing
The Loco-Motion
as it was on the Golden Tour or have a pointless
Wild rose moment
to interrupt the already truncated
Disco medley
which includes the song LITERALLY NO ONE ASKED FOR
Monday Blues :zombie:

SHE’S A FRUGAL QUEEN

I don't think it's (just) about money. the tea is that while Kylie is very energised currently, she doesn't have a finger on the pulse in terms of what or who is cool or visually exciting - that extends from stylists to music videos to artwork and tour.

that side of her career which was once so integral to her popstar styling has really suffered basically since Kiss Me Once, with only the occasional positive (Padam dress).

I mean she has lasted longer than anyone expected her to especially in a pure pop arena where the shelf life is slim. I think it’s natural to run out of ideas without reinventing yourself over and over. She seems to have found a lane she likes and hasn’t ventured far off it in quite a few album cycles.

I think she has settled and doesn't really challenge herself any more. For all his faults, William Baker was good at getting her to raise the bar.

This tour seems very much
like an extension of the Vegas residency
with Kylie
walking and talking her way through the crowd to get from the main stage to the B-STAGE and back again
. She seems comfortable having
lost that sense of unattainable distance and detachment from her audiences
which is both a good and bad thing I guess.

I want show(wo)man X Tour Kylie back, quite frankly.

Oh I think when she saw that Vegas worked in her favor she was never going back to water fountains and elaborate robot suits. It’s almost like IP tour in a way

The Kiss Me Once tour didn’t get much love, but I thought lots of it was great and showed a real vision.

The rot set in with the Golden tour when she got away with a sub par effort and she’s settled since then.

The Golden Tour was great. It had a consistent theme and it was a nice change to have a more stripped back show focusing on the music.

I didn't anticipate the next tour becoming even more stripped back following THREE high energy albums though. :bruised:

Also ALL the arrangements were new on the Golden Tour and we had an outing of rarely heard songs Wouldn't Change A Thing and I'll Still Be Loving You.

Nothing in this show comes close to Slow on the previous tour.

The gays are crying about the tour and Miss Momma is out here getting drunk
