When Israel was founded, almost no Arab states recognized its legitimacy. Governments are inherently self-interested, and Israel has gradually gained increased recognition from several Arab states over time.Good luck with that last part!
If Israel takes and holds on to more land in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank, it could use that as leverage in future negotiations for recognition once things settle down. This strategy has been in place since Israel's inception and has proven effective for them so far.
