There's been some chat in the Switch thread, but I really think this warrants a dedicated space to discuss it. Who's ready to return to Hyrule to run around the land AND explore the skies?

Out THIS FRIDAY  :disco:

There was also this deep(ish) dive into some of the new gameplay mechanics:

The tool/vehicle creation stuff is clearly going to let you do some absolutely insane things, I can't wait :disco: It seems tailor made to create those sort of emergent gameplay moments that made Breath of the Wild so special.

Picking this up next week as busy this weekend. Looking forward to getting back into it though!

That last trailer was shit the bed amazing but I don't have time in my life right now to play this so it's likely to be a second-hand pick-up next winter.

Also the spoilers confirmed that

you don't play as Zelda

So my interest in it has waned a lil bit. However,

the return of PROPER DUNGEONS

is a very welcome thing.

Just started this. The look and feel is INCREDIBLE :disco:

On the less positive side, shame they kept the same voice actress for Princess Zelda. She's dreadful and so grating.

Just got to my first stable, you can now get something called PONY POINTS :o :disco:

Horses from your BOTW save carry over! My beloved Indira and Piecrust RIDE AGAIN :disco:

Oh god I'm already losing entire evenings to this, just like last time
Currently doing the Hebra sky island stuff investigating the giant cloud - expecting it to be this game's equivalent of a Divine Beast and contain a dungeon of some sort.

Oh yes, I've seen all sorts of contraptions - a lot of people are using them to torture the koroks :D

I've just started playing this, and whilst I love the initial sky area which is SO CHILL and cute to explore - it's a little frustrating it takes so long to get the paraglider!!

However I'm all set up now with glider, horse and abilities and it feels like the game has finally properly started :disco:
Can't wait to lose hundreds of hours of my life to this.

Just found out that Master Mode saves don't transfer over, AFTER restarting the game thinking I'd done something wrong.

I've done my first dungeon now, the whole thing including the approach to it was just... my god, this fucking game :disco: Started heading towards the next one, but decided to jump down a WELL and explore a system of underground streams instead :disco: :disco: :disco:

This is very much a ME PROBLEM, but I'm personally finding the Minecraft/build your own CRAZY INVENTION elements of the game (and indeed the shrines) rather exhausting.
I play games to wind down and relax, not give myself some sort of BRAIN TEASE!

It's starting to make me dread picking it up, I kind of long for the rather back to basics approach of the original :shy:

I'm also finding the construction element a bit of a CHORE TBH, but I fully accept that's a me problem. I'm very much the kind of Zelda fan who's in it for the Majora's Mask-esque side quests based on interactions with interesting side characters, rather than BUILDING CARS.

Just had a wonderful few hours of exploring, doing shrines and towers, finding a load of sky islands and zipping between then on mine carts - I think it might be even better than BOTW for me, so far at least.

Just done my third dungeon, and that's where my only criticism lies so far. They're better than the divine beasts, but nowhere near the quality of dungeons of yore.

Although the bosses are excellent (though the one I just did was a PAIN to aim at)

People are building nuclear behemoths and so far my greatest achievement is a log raft that sailed away without me on it :(

That happened to me in BOTW as I recall - I was climbing around on the outside of a castle turret, fell and suddenly there was CALAMITY GANON

Getting that one piece of armour without triggering the Ganon fight was a nightmare!

Ok, finished the main quest. It was great fun, and I'm definitely going to stick around and do more exploration and side quests.

The story was fine I suppose, though suffered by the open-ended nature of how you can learn different things at different times, so there was a lot of repeating the exact same explanation in case that was the first time you were hearing it. I'm sure there were more elegant solutions than that

Also, realising during the dragon tears segment that the final boss was going to be Dragondorf was fun, but the actual fight was a bit meh. And the phases before being a slightly more difficult version of the gloom Ganondorf was a bit of a let down too.

Oh, and my usual complaint with these sort of endings. LEAVE THE SACRIFICIAL GIRLFRIEND DEAD FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

Me playing this game for two weeks and only TODAY discovering that
there's a third layer of the world you can explore

:nononono:
