The Traitors (UK) S02E03

Was that the best episode EVAH?

Ash MUST survive. She’s like Meryl levels of stupid but we have to see that fallout.

Brian lost the plot but, for me, that wouldn’t be a reason to accuse him. What I didn’t understand was him deciding to go against type by starting proceedings, having THAT episode, and then not even accusing anybody! :D

We can’t lose Diane. She would be an amazing traitor.

I’m pleased certain players are starting to question Paul. He is so obvious to me. The definition of hiding in plain sight.

I was worried they’ll murder Diane if it’s found she’s got Ash right but as she’s not suspected Paul or Harry I think they’ll be happy to keep her in.

Also I guess Paul and Harry had a chat about getting rid of Ash that we didn’t see.

I don’t think I could wait more than an hour more. I need to see what happens next.

Paul’s not my son…

*dramatic pause*

…but ROSS IS

The 'CBS Reality true crime documentary' editing was something else :D

Great episode. Ash is a liability, but I'd like to see the fallout if she doesn't get banished. In fairness, she's the only one who's really been tested so far. I'm not convinced Miles will hold it together under scrutiny, and Paul is so cocky he might just get banished for being ANNOYING. I think Harry might go quite far, if only because incoherent rambling is how he communicates in any situation.

I'm probably a bit spoiled because I was able to binge the whole of series 1, but I really DON'T like the way the episode was left hanging mid-round table. It's a VERY Love Island thing to do and is incredibly annoying. I think they only messed with the episode format once last year. Each one should start with breakfast and end with the murder. If they need more time, make the episode longer. If it needs to be an hour, then just CUT SOME OF THE FUCKING USELESS AND UNINTERESTING TASKS WITH A MADE-UP TIME LIMIT BECAUSE THERE IS STILL NOBODY WHO GIVES A FLYING SHIT ABOUT THAT PART OF THE SHOW.

I do really struggle to see what production thinks the viewer gets from the tasks. The taking of the shield isn't that interesting. That person being protected from being murdered isn't particularly interesting. There's still no jeopardy to thr traitors. And them potentially dropping a few thousand from the prize pot just isn't interesting the viewer, is it? At the final, does it make any difference to us as viewers if whoever wins gets £120k or £90k or whatever?

I saw Claudia saying in an interview that it's partly a duty of care thing, so that they're not spending 24 hours at each other's throats accusing one another and getting out and about to do something.

I do agree that they're the weakest part of the episode, but at least they've incorporated the shield thing this year. It may not be interesting in itself who gets them, but at least there's usually a bit of low key drama around who goes for them, who's out for themselves and who's a team player and so on.

Also hopefully there'll be more "who said what about whom" style tasks like the last one, which give them something to talk about.

I do worried that Diane is going to get murdered as it feels like they gave up the mother/son thing to get her story out of the way? I guess she offered up the truth herself that day in the chair so maybe not :side-eye:

In principle, I can see where tasks might fit into the show if they provided some sort of psychological element that influenced people's perceptions of one another at the round table (running around with scarecrows doesn't count). But I don't really see how physical activity tasks where they're all, ultimately, competing for the same thing helps achieve that.

I do think it’d be more fun if the traitors got rewarded for subtly sabotaging the tasks.

It's not quite the same thing, but splitting them into teams to compete AGAINST one another for a prize might be a start. Then you would naturally start to see elements of behaviour come out that might be much more influential in how both traitors and faithfuls are regarded.

Also hopefully there'll be more "who said what about whom" style tasks like the last one, which give them something to talk about.

The one where they were strapped to a wheel last year is exactly the sort of task I was thinking of. I can't quite remember what went down, but it definitely felt consequential to what unfolded next.

At the final, does it make any difference to us as viewers if whoever wins gets £120k or £90k or whatever?

Not at all. I hadn't quite formulated in my mind how it would work, but I think the prize pot should be blind and related to how many votes are made against the traitors throughout each round table across the series. Say, each correct vote adds £1000 to the total. The faithful build the money, and the traitors attempt to steal it at the end. It doesn't mean the traitors wouldn't ever vote for each other because they still have a vested interest to a) build the money up and b) be the last one in the game.

Without wanting to underplay how great she is, and her part in the success of the show, it doesn't seem right to me that Claudia is the highlight of the tasks. There needs to be something more (perhaps even anything more) at stake.

I do think some element of the traitors having to sabotage proceedings could have been incorporated, but it's still a brilliant format.

Brian's meltdown was such a glorious mix of self-centredness and MESS, like nobody's talking about you, why are you putting a target on your own back? :D

He just didn't stop. When he interrupted Claudia after he had already and repeatedly made a prize ass of himself, I just gave up. The lass next to him rolling her eyes into her own throat.

The bird call task (wtf?) would have been ideal for that. The Traitors give a false call and add to a Traitors only prize pot while taking from the faithful's prize pot. Claudia reveals a traitor has taken money from the faithful's and cue some absolute meltdown aimed at a faithful because they fell into a ditch.

Adding more jeopardy might come in later series. I mean it's not really needed yet based on what happened in Ep3 :D (still stunned)

Kind of annoyed they haven't twigged on if they don't reveal who has a shield then it would have pretty much saved everyone running outside from murder (ami'right?)

Brian’s meltdown was so embarrassing and uncomfortable to watch, partly because I feel like this is how I could have behaved (and probably have in the past) if/when I’d underperfom in a competition/Moopyrate/ASFM etc.

I don’t mind the tasks, some are even rather entertaining, but they could easily make them more relevant to the game by including questions about the contestants or about the game. We saw what the sheep question led to.

(That would however mean less physical challenges maybe)

I actually enjoy the tasks! Bare in mind it’s my first time watching so perhaps they’ll tire, but I enjoy how it taps into that teamwork dynamic.

I’m really enjoying it all and may go back and watch the first season over the weekend

The thick ones are really making themselves apparent. Obviously we have Ash but can we discuss how DIM Charlie is? How many times did she try to hang Diane being a traitor on her reaction to Sonja's elimination (i thought it was clear why she responded that way even if it was inappropriate)?

Is that the same dumb woman who has said she’s sure that Paul (a couple of times) and Harry are faithful?

I think so. She's proper daft.

They should have made Ross a traitor to protect her and then watch the inevitable fall-out as they have to turn on each other. I once got fired by my own mother and let me tell you the fall-out was explosive :disco:
