TV Ratings 2025 (1 Viewer)

And as they never updated it for 2024, the average last year was 5.642m

A very similar decline in viewers year on year to The Apprentice over the past few years with a much steeper decline going back further.

The Apprentice is down 11.5% on its last year before lockdown (I've chosen that year as both had a break for it), and BGT has lost 32.2%.

Over the past few years they have fell on a very similar trajectory though. BGT seem to have stopped the rot and the steep decline in viewers and is still top 3 in viewership.

If you look at just the last three complete seasons, The Apprentice comes off more poorly.

In the grand scheme of things are programmes that got over 10-15 million viewers more likely to have been affected majorly by the big change in viewing habits that seem to have hit over the past few years. I mean in the fact that they got such huge figures, now hardly anything can get over 10 million viewers. That thought just came in to my head.

I don't think it's just the change in viewing habits when you're talking about big shows, and particularly the reality ones. It's also just really hard to stay THAT big over a number of years and keep being the big thing that everyone wants to watch. BGT may have fallen heavily from its peak, but I fully expected it may go the way of X Factor and tumble when the rot set in, and it never has. It will be interesting to see if the change to how they are broadcasting it this year makes a difference.

Definitely. I remember the day when I used to look forward to the semi finals as they also did a big soap week with Corrie but it has probably become more of a chore than anything touching on exciting over the past few years.

That's a new low for Gladiators, the first time it has dipped below 4m. I would have started worrying about a third series, had they not posted about it being renewed already.

Apprentice beating BGT and Corrie building the lead again on Eastenders ( WHY?)

I watched the new series of Tem Pound Poms yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hoping ratings pick up for a green light for S3. 🙏

The Apprentice being the number 1 show of the week in Season 19 when it’s really reached its absolute low in terms of entertainment value of shocking.

The figures for Adolescence are extraordinary (as is the show). Amazing result for Netflix.

It still seems to be building as well, looking at social media. The final figure will be really interesting.

...and apparently it was originally developed for Amazon Prime

I haven’t watched yet. Anyone here watched it? Worth the hype?
2 episodes in, great acting & well worth a watch. We've only been able to watch one episode a night though as it's a bit HARROWING & also UNCOMFORTABLY REAL at times.

I don’t really know what it’s about and may well keep it that way until I watch.

I saw one of my (boomer) friends post on Facebook about all the children were on their phones in the classroom, which i thought was QUITE the takeaway from it, considering everything else I've heard or read about it.

I wonder if that Ten Pound Poms figure will secure a 3rd series? I love it. 🙏

It's lower for the first episode of series two after 7 days than the first of series one got in the overnights apparently, which doesn't look like the best start. But we know drama performs best of any genre on catch up after 7 days, so I'm sure it will still add a fair audience to that figure.

Plus it's also been sold internationally to Australia at least.

Adolescence episode one had 6.450m, dropping to 4.654m for episode four.

Nice little bump back up for Gladiators after falling below 4m last week.

Could Gladiators be being affected by its broadcast time? I seem to remember that the episode in this chart was broadcast at 7pm whereas its usual time is around 5.50pm.

Which doesn't obviously mean that only 4.654m WILL watch Episode 4 - a lot of people might just not have finished it yet.

I appreciate you obviously know that... :D

My beloved Ten Pound Poms seems to be flopping. 😞

It is a brilliant time for British drama at the moment. I went through a stage of not having much to watch in that regard, but like buses it seems like a lot have turned up at once. I’m not complaining.

Good to see Gladiators get back up there. I do think it would be better at 7pm ish regularly

Episode one was 6.450m, and episode two 5.938m, which would be a better indicator of audience drop off - although even then, some of that half million or so will likely still pick the series up again later.

It's just interesting when looking at viewing figures as it's very rare with any show which is dropped at once for all episodes to make the top 50 to have access to the information. But for Adolescence, the individual episodes were the #1, #2, # 5 and #9 shows of the week.

It's still getting a lot of great word of mouth as well, so I'm sure figures will increase considerably yet. And luckily Netflix seems keen to get those figures out there, so hopefully we'll hear about it.
