So, it looks like this going to have it's best chart performance for a while due to streaming. But what do you think of this? I would assume 10's across the board but it's never been put to the Moopy test.

I think it's been mentioned before, most people have no clue it's from the 1990s or by Mariah originally. Where is this on the best sellers of all time?

Stone cold classic.

Mariah's only one in fact.

This is the song she will be remembered for - and she's largely forgotten, aside from her loons these days.

It it weren't for this song she's be like Westlife - stunningly successful with minimal cultural impact.

I just coincidentally just heard this on VINTAGE TV A MUSIC STATION FOR THE ANCIENT and it is the best thing she's ever done. But then again that's not saying MUCH.

It's such a classic that I think people don't even realise she actually co-wrote the song (and this way actually give her credit for something that's quite awesome in a way).

Pretty much this. Even then she (or her producers) stole a lot from Phil Spectre.

And imagine if they'd actually made the video once the song had been written/recorded/decided to be the single and they didn't just fashion together a LOAD OF OLD SHIT from the album cover shoot...

I'd say the simple video is spot on. Imagine a very 90s video that had been overly thought about (it could have gone terribly wrong).

I don't think so. They didn't throw huge amounts of money at her videos back then anyway...it would have been of a similar theme, I would have thought, but without grainy footage and with an actual performance of the song in the snow.

I'd have thought the grainy footage was deliberate, to go with the retro sound.

Beyond classic. It's iconic. It's Christmas compressed and crystallized into 4 minutes.

The musical arrangement of the song couldn't have been done better. It's a testimony of just how infinitely musically gifted she is. She's the kind of artist that people will sing along to, but not knowing that it's Mariah. People WILL sing along and know the words to Always Be My Baby, Hero and Fantasy but they just don't know it's her.

COME BACK LOUF!

I just realised I haven't heard this yet this year. Must rectify soon, but I also don't want to overplay it.

Anyway it's an obvious ten but it wouldn't trouble my Mariah top 10. Although I guess I'm a borderline loon (I have everything she's ever done but also don't really LOON over her, I save that for Vadge)

She couldn't be more in rapture if she were having a fully clothed bath surrounded by cameras, lights and Hello Kitty dolls. The most intense pleasure I get with Mariah (that doesn't involve laughing at her) is with this song. Those vocals are an avalanche of octaves.

It's her only half decent track. Although one that's now been overplayed to DEATH.

I think only hearing it for one month a year preserves the magic for me. It's such a festive jam.

I could honestly see this having a chance of #1 due to streaming. Didn't it TOP the streaming chart last year?

I was at the Chinese buffet last night, and they were playing their Christmas album.
This song was played. I enjoyed it very much.

I stick with the SUPER EXTRA FESTIVE XXL HO-HO-HO EDITION or whatever it’s called these days.

Basically the one with Justin Bieber.

It does, still, feel like the last true Christmas classic. I suppose because Christmas songs by their nature are a bit retro and kitsch so it seems fitting that any kind of golden era ends around 1994...

I'd completely forgotten that the version with Bieber existed until I saw it on a repeat of a Christmas TOTP show the other night.

Nobody seems to be buying it on iTunes, either.

This is the bastard with streaming, even tho' everyone who could conceivably want it has long got it, it'll get a chart run again due to streaming playlists at Xmas parties.
