Manchester = iconic gay capital of the UK. End of
Glasgow = iconic - the gentrification vs the grit and of course the beautiful scenery etc. and I was sick and tired of everything when I CALLED you last night from GLASGOW says it all
Liverpool = home of the Beatles bien sur. I can see a live transmission from the Tavern etc. etc. Imagine cheesiness etc. etc.
Newcastle = our Angel of the North. A city on the up and up. That gorgeous accent.

Leeds = Yorkshire iconica come through.
Birmingham = we love you and your diversity of course and the museums and shopping and new library and I guess spaghetti junction is iconic.

Sheffield = uh... how do I put this... it's in Yorkshire. I'll say that.

I don't think they'd have got it, but I thought the shortlist was only meant to be whichever cities made the grade, with the preferences and bids coming later and surely London makes the grade?

I'm actually pleased it's NOT in London, just a little surprised.

I've never been to Liverpool or Leeds because I've been actively avoiding VoR, and Newcastle just makes me think of drunk girls tits out New Years Eve.

Birmingham has the curry mile which is desirable. Glasgow has sectarian violence which is very authentic. I've not been back to Sheffield since childhood. If their Maccies still had a soda fountain like they did in 1984 then they get my vote.

But honestly Manchester is just fabulous.
 
Liverpool is fantastic and it has the added bonus nowadays of La Fourchette aka La Funkette (aka @funky ) who I hear can accomm???
