The BIG Mello 2024 GOSSIP & ARTIST SPECULATION Thread

I believe they stand a very good chance. From what I've heard the songs sent in before fell just short of being selected by the jury.

A KEiiNO competition comeback wherever please.
Alexandra currently taking a DNA test and crossing her fingers that she’s a sixteenth Luxembourgish.

They mainly want the winner of of next year to submit their song through the link above, so the Paul Rey's and Victor Crone's of the world need not bother.

Samir & Viktor is back together and will of course be invited back to MF 2024. Samir is the holdout here, he's been limiting the amount of shows they've been doing and avoided most media interactions this summer.

I wondered where he was! :eyes:

There are rumors circulating that September is once again considering entering Melfest. She was last contemplating participation in 2019 but ended up pulling out.

Fom 2003 to 2012, she achieved several hits both locally and abroad but never gained widespread recognition in her home country before her appearance on Så Mycket Bättre.

In the decade since, her fortunes was pretty much reversed. Despite slowly drifting away from the international market and failing to land any major hits since 2012, she has managed to become a household name domestically through AllsĂĄng pĂĄ Skansen and various other media appearances.

Recently, she has also expressed renewed interest in returning to her eurodance roots, a more cohesive stylistic choice if she were to enter Melodifestivalen using her former stage name.

^ Got the same info about a month ago. They are trying hard to convince her and it seems she"s actually willing to do it this time. Apart from that, I would not expect any other big names. SVT is really trying to persuade Agnes and Darin (and Darin was actually quite close to saying yes for 2023) but they seem not to be interested anymore.

Agnes would be fab, especially for a hosting year, but by all accounts she hated her experience in 2009.

It would be fab, but if I was her I wouldn't go anywhere near it - she's setting herself up for massive disappointment when she gets beaten by the latest Bishara clone.

If she's up for Eurovision, pick another country, MF makes Sweden too much of an uphill struggle for an artist like Agnes.

I think she’s just really not interested in doing Eurovision or Melodifestivalen, and only did it last time at the behest of her record company before Release Me had taken off internationally.

Now she’s self-releasing, there won’t be that same kind of pressure to do it.

And financially she's also in a VERY stable set-up in terms of being a self-releasing artist. I really would be very surprised to see her back, ever.

Didn’t she have another entry in the running a couple of years prior to Love Love Love, but she broke the embargo announcing her involvement to get herself disqualified? :D

Yes, I distinctly remember reading this. I believe this was for the 2007 edition, called "Just a Girl" or "More Than A Girl" or similar.

Love Love Love really is the absolute TITS, though, even 14 years down the line. :disco:

Yes, she entered a song called More Than A Girl but told the press all about it during the selection process, so she was disqualified and replaced by a little song called Cara Mia by a young Måns Zelmerlow. I would like to hear this so badly but it just isn’t out there.

Also FACT FANS, leading up to 2008 Charlotte Perrelli was offered either Love Love Love (then titled Dance Dance Dance) or Hero. She chose Hero and went on to win Eurovision 2008 receiving all of the points. Had Perrelli not sung Hero then it would have gone to MĂĄns Zelmerlow, who was gutted not to get it and has actually sung it a few times live.

Neither Darin nor Agnes seems to have been very involved in the visual presentation of their previous entries. I feel like that's an important pathway for the artists to take ownership and fully enjoy the Mello experience.

I can't really imagine Agnes at MF now, but it is a shame that Darin's interest passed. I would have liked to see him enter with an uptempo, there are a few good ones on his new album:

As he is back singing in Swedish I guess any international aspirations are either off or on hold.

if the first 6 names rumours are true I’m absolutely shocked

1. Jennifer Eskola
2. Crucified Barbara
3. Addis Black Widow
4. Brendan Minogue
5. Hanna Lindblad
6. Penelope from Moopy

According to Aftonbladet, David Lindgren has submitted an entry and it's a ballad in Swedish :bruised:

All four acts are returnees. Lasse Stefanz is a big name in Sweden, probably the most well known dansband of all. They competed in Melodifestivalen 2011 but got beaten by Linda Pritchard.
