I do wonder if the stench of failure from Joker Folie a Deux might be diluting a lot of the potential excitement around this project?

It's kind of hard to do a whole 'SHE'S BACK!!!!" when she released a movie and an accompanying album less than a month ago that nobody gave a shit about.

Obviously the counter argument is that Die With a Smile is doing massive numbers, but then despite her being first billed, that really feels like a Bruno Mars record that she happens to be featured on.

Almost anything that Bruno touches turns into gold.

And it definitely feels like Stefanie came back three times in the last three months.

I agree that they clearly thought Joker was going to be huge and wanted to strike with it.

The whole other album project feels like a misstep to me, though. Nothing seems to hang together properly in a cohesive campaign.

That’s my feeling as well. I think Joker really killed the excitement for the new era.

I will say Die With A Smile has finally grown on me though.

You can see how this strategy would have been incredible had Joker been a A Star Is Born level smash, but COME ON that wasn't going to happen. LG7 isn't out for another 4 months (?) though so it would almost be better to disappear for a few months and have another go at a "comeback" then. Not that a comeback is necessary, but there needs to be some momentum behind an LG album campaign

Actually, this was perfect timing and worth a shot. Gaga’s fans know well she needs those little side projects for herself, and as loyal supporters, we embrace her indulging in things like jazz movies and getting university film studies degrees. We know they’re good for her mental health and that a happy Gaga will find the time to churn out some hits too. If Disease was ever going to be released as a single, Halloween is the moment.

Even if it doesn’t set the Billboard charts alight, it’s still a solid teaser that keeps engagement up for the upcoming album. And though the music video might be a letdown, the song itself is FINE. Her little monsters will look forward to having something on the album to wind down with and fall asleep to anyways, so they’re not up for days gacked on it.

I don't think she's flopped, I don't like or dislike her any more or less than I did before (in that I really like her), the Joker film I haven't seen and makes no difference to me one way or another, and I haven't bothered with the other album apart from Happy Mistake which is incredible.

None of it matters though. The new song is just crap.

Did you like her similar-sounding big hits funky?

NO :D but I always maintained that I could appreciate the interest in songs like Bad Romance and Poker Face - they're very well written songs, very memorable and anthemic etc etc - I just don't like that turn of the 10s EDM dirty synth production. Never have, never will.

This one just doesn't have the same OOMPH that they did (for me)

For me it somewhat hits in those final 20 seconds when the extra bass kicks in. My main problem though is I simply dislike the melodies and as much as her vox get praised I don't actually enjoy them much here. I still like HER and look forward to hearing the rest.

I just did the FLOP post to get a rise out of ZenGiraffe, because IT'S JUST SO EASY.

#1 on Today's Top Hits should give this a huge boost from tomorrow

If not it's dead and onto the next

What a day that was, I introduced new people to the Rolling Stones collab. A special moment in Gaga’s storied mopsy career :disco:

Stays at #41 on global Spotify with 2,686,515 filtered streams this Thursday, and that's with the influx of Halloween songs.

NOT DEAD YET!

People acting and pretending this is a flop of SEXY CONFIDENT proportions is so funny.

Disease is ranked #134 out of 550 songs this year. It's a certified non-flop.
