Chappell Roan - Good Luck, Babe

Sorry bringing this out again.

This poor woman can’t catch a break lol

She could've caught a break and remained in charge of the narrative simply by announcing that she's changing management, maybe even saying thanks for the last few years to the old one (no matter if true or not).

It's just less-than-smart PR sensibilities across the board. :D

I see the BBC have gone out on a limb by naming her in their sound of 2025 list of "up and coming" artists. Surprised they didn't put Sabrina Carpenter on there too.
That's hilarious. Surely she doesn't meet their qualifying rules having 2 top 10 singles and a top 10 album 🤷🏻‍♂️

This beats their inclusion of Peggy Gou last year.

They got new rules:

This year's nominees may be more recognisable than previous acts were at this stage in their careers.

That's down to a change in the eligibility criteria that recognises the difficulties of achieving crossover success in the streaming era.

To qualify, artists could not have had more than two UK top 10 albums or two UK top 10 singles by 30 September 2024.

Talk about not having to put your neck out. Chappell, two Mercury winners...

Just seen that Confidence Man are on the list too lol. They were the sound of 2022 for a lot of people I know!

It's undeniable that it takes longer for artists to break through in the streaming age, but having Chappell, one of the undeniable sounds of 2024, on the list makes zero sense. You've missed the boat bbc!

Yeah it just shines a light on the fact they completely missed her this time last year.

Three albums in! I'm not even sure about the timing, they released a string of singles this year and the album last month... will they even be that active next year? Mind you they are pretty prolific.

Her slow climb has been slightly bizarre. 'Pink Pony Club' came out FOUR YEARS AGO.

I'd have thought she was at least internet gaymous enough 12 months ago for the buzz around her to have registered with the swathe of music industry co-called professionals pulling this together but maybe I'm giving them too much credit.

Pink Pony Club is her best song yes? :disco: I've been enjoying the whole album but PPC really is head and shoulders above. glorious. the electric guitar solo!
