Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS (spilled) re-release out now

I didn't know she's doing a song for the new Hunger Games movie, I hope this doesn't mean the GUTS promo stops. Not that movie soundtracks do much these days, unless it's Barbie.

 
I think it is really lovely but I wouldn't have picked it out as being her if I didn't know. The folksy/Americana thing is a bit different from her usual ballads.
 
She's never been worse than very good whenever I've heard her live, so that SNL flub is a shame

the album grates at moments (lacy, anyone) but has handful of 10/10 moments (love is embarrassing, making the bed, vampire, pretty isn't pretty).
 
I heard a horrible horrible song in a clothing store the other day. It was so horrible I was curious to know who was responsible for it but still couldn’t be bothered to take out my phone and check. I go back to "Vampire", "Love is Embarrassing", "Making the Bed", and "Pretty Isn't Pretty". That's about it. Something about her voice/delivery grates on me a bit, when listening to the album all the way through. Especially the slower piano ballad stuff.
 
I agree it's a cherry picker. I love Pretty isn't Pretty, Vampire and all american bitch a lot. the rest... not bad, sometimes fun or lovely but she can do better and probably needs to keep her sound moving next time.
 
I must be listening to a different album cause apart from the singles, SOUR was pretty MID!
 
Has she re-recorded the vinyl bonus tracks? I read online that she had but it could have been speculation based on the recording style (I haven't heard any of them but I read they were a bit basic and demo-ey).
 
I like So American more than anything from the original album

I note with horror that Pretty Isn't Pretty, the BEST SONG on the album, is slumming it with just 91m streams. there is no JUSTICE!
 
I ordered the double picture disc of this and there's a huge bubble in the pressing on side 1. God clearly wanted to send me a message about impulse purchasing and acting as if I have money. Message received, boss.
 
Glastonbury’s top headliner this year - just announced

I know she does big numbers with her music but this feels like another SZA… she’s hot shit right now but is she a household name?

She's at least got a crossover hit in 'driver's license' but I think Glasto is increasingly going to come across the issue that vanishingly few younger stars ARE household names.

Good For You and Vampire also clearly huge crossover hits...number ones I think? probably more songs too for most people under 30 which surely a lot of the Glastonbury audience are. Plus one of the best selling albums in Uk this decade.

SZA by contrast had one UK crossover hit at the time, and limited album success (which admittedly has improved in the past year)
 
Although I will say it feels weird that we live in a world where Olivia Rodrigo is a Glastonbury headliner when the likes of say, Lorde haven't!
 
She’s doing BST as well. I’d say she’s probably more known with the general public than SZA (I.e. radio two type listeners) but she does feel maybe slightly too premature.
