A Song For Moopy 2020 - THE RESULTS

There was a lot of chat about Baliando, so I was quite amused to see it not really translating into votes.

And I’ve just noticed all my top 3 were in the top 10 :disco:

I definitely didn’t get votes from Alla or RS and only a little amount from ameeral because the song was so well known to them.

If neither of the top 2 want to run the next one then I would happily do so as the 3rd place finisher. But reckon it needs a couple of weeks gap.

I think Bailando is my favourite song of the bunch for all the nostalgic reasons, but I just couldn’t vote for it because it’s such an everpresent song here.

So some background on my entry. Yes, Yasmine Hamdan is a Lebanese artist but the song also samples an old Iraqi folk song, which is why I like it so much. I was basically bringing you both sides of my heritage

Does Nedeye means WET in your dialect too?

As for the SEMIS debate, this was silly hard work, but also it paid off in terms of the two topics. Amazed so many people took the time to listen.

I still think you could potentially have 3 massive topics by doing semis. I don't really think the post count matters.

Thanks for the effort of putting all of this together, @Ag :disco:

I am extra glad NOT ending up last and getting 50 odd points from all of you. Good enough I think.

I am a little disappointed in my result. I was hoping for top 10, but I guess it was a combination of being too well known in certain countries and a bit too novelty. It’s often hard to compare 2 songs from 2 completely different eras. But at least it got a lot of discussion and many people discovered It for the first time. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is down to you.

It was a risk which didn’t quite pay off in the end but I wouldn’t have changed it.

Definitely good, VERY good! It was Vampires are alive, everybody talking about it before the show, even when it flopped later.

It’s also interesting that people judge songs in different ways. My 12 went to a song I’ve known and loved for over 20 years. Others didn’t vote for songs they knew.
