Bop or flop - HOLLER

Despite being somewhat of a 'flop' for a #1 and a Spice Girls single, it's probably aged the best of much of their stuff and sounds so cool.

Retrospectively, I'm surprised they had it in them. Mel B and Emma are on especially vibrant vocal form (for them). Victoria is passable, but Mel C just didn't have the range for this. And in the video M&V B's both pitched their pop star auras sky high above the other 2 (Mel C looking like the blonde from Daphne & Celeste and Emma like a young Judy Finnigan at the local biker bar).

How much did Forever sell in the end? I always remember hearing many different figures for Spice Girls sales. 35-50 million albums which is quite a scope. Was Forever responsible for around 2 million of those?

I remember the Holler/Let Love TOTP appearances, Mel B and Vicky looked amazing in every single one of them. Poor Mel C though, now that we know what she was going through then.

This top ten still lives rent free in my head. What a time!

They were not the Spice Girls by this point, and I don't consider this song to be canon

I think it's mostly loyal Spice Girls stans who like this song. Civilians may remember the song, but bop? I don't think.

Forever completely abandoned their previously kaleidoscopic approach. All that frantic pop voltage of Spiceworld completely fizzled out. I feel like they were given mostly placeholder fodder. Given their album sales and popularity, it ought to have had more daring pursuits and when that moment is the languid If You Wanna Have Some Fun, well, there wasn't much to be had, sporadic comedy Mel B rap aside.
