Well yes! He had seen a few songs already getting more than 253, so why would “basically everyone” not have thought that the (former) jury winner had a chance of doing it?

So neither the jury vote winner or the televote winner got credit for their achievements, and one was dumped out of the top 5 unceremoniously.

I think not giving any jury votes for Belarus would have helped Belarus as other countries could vote for them but they wouldn't be adding to anyone else's score. Right? Idk it's all gotten confusing

Then they should’ve doubled the televote instead!
They’re all worried about not benefitting Belarus but they came out higher when they changed it!! And they were only in the final anyway because that Czech juror was sloshed

At least this is giving the farcical aggregate score system a higher profile - I understand they've got to have something to avoid a null vote benefitting that country. Maybe Belarus should have started with -12 on the scoreboard?

Also is there any news this year of whether the San Marino televote was made up again like this, or did they have a valid set of votes this time?

As far as I’m aware, San Marino will never (or at least not for the near future) have a valid televote as they share phone networks with Italy so I don’t think they even have a public vote.

Albania is more of an unknown quantity as they do hold a televote which sometimes reaches the minimum threshold and sometimes doesn’t.
