I'm sorry but MADAME X is one of her best albums ever

Madonna - disco/pop/R&B
Like A Virgin - R&B/Motown
True Blue - bombastic '80s pop rock
Like a Prayer - organic chamber pop/singer songwriter
I'm Breathless - Broadway musical Sondheim eleganza
Erotica - house/ techno
Bedtime Stories - '90s R&B
Ray of Light - electronica
Music / American Life - folktronica
Confessions - disco
Hard Candy - '00s R&B
MDNA - EDM/dubstep
Rebel Heart - singer songwriter
Madame X - fado / morna

Genre hoping iconic queen! Your faves could nevahhh!!!

I just had to go back to Spotify and see if I was going mad and nope, still not claiming that as an R&B album! Angel comes close and yes the cover is. That’s about it.

ITG is very 80s R&B but that doesn’t count :eyes:
There's Motown influences all over LAV and that makes R&B. End of story.
Just because it's not your seemingly rather narrow "90s" definition of R&B doesn't mean it's not.
:eyes:

I’m gagging at this LAV R&B claim @Suedey :D

Of all the ALBUMS!

It’s so tinny and quite clearly a (pretty well done) pastiche of 80s new wave!

Ok so Stop by the Spice Girls is R&B?

Motown influence does not equal R&B

But it’s just an OPINION so we can choose to disagree :disco:

(Get me a ticket)

She did record some new wave stuff circa the first album before she was signed, which was all binned. Many of them have leaked but they've never made it onto any official release..

Who knew American Pie was a deep self reference?

Well I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancing in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Then I dig those rhythm and blues
OMGGGGG!!!!!

I just LOVE madonna’s metal songs (deeper and deeper)

There's nothing new wave about LAV. Zilch.

Dress You Up and Over & Over have strong new wave leanings. On the pop side. Either way they’re two of the whitest songs I’ve ever heard :)

And yet both of them were produced by a black man.
Not that I would want to make this about race but you did have to go there.

Bedtime Stories is easily my favourite DRILL ALBUM.
speaking of DRILLING and I know I ALWAYS say this, but I had some really good bumsex to Bedtime Stories years ago
And I think @lolly lost his virginity to it
now that we're over-sharers or anythin

Nile Rodgers also produced Bowie at the same time.

Are you saying he can only produce black music?

Nile Rodgers has an incredibly eclectic discography.

I’m… so confused.

Err, no. You just said those songs were very 'white' and I said they were produced by a black man. That's all.
And yes there are plenty of R&B elements to Let's Dance as well by the way.

@Suedey

Please list the drugs you're on.

As it happens I love Dress You Up. But it’s about as R&B as Katy Perry, just saying.

I'm not sure if I LOST it to Bedtime Stories, but it was very much part of a soundtrack to my ANAL AWAKENING :disco:

I can very specifically remember lovely lazy Sunday morning sex to Forbidden Love :horny:

For me I think it's Don't Stop. I just remember him really hitting my G spot to it.

Why are you so precious about the whole R&B thing? I honestly don't get it! :D

Well Apparently I have a narrow minded view of R&B in the 90s only, but I’m precious! :o

I actually just enjoy talking about R&B music and you’re saying things that I totally disagree with, so here we are :D
