Katy Perry - 143 (Worst Rated Album EVER by a female artist) (1 Viewer)

Can Katy turn things around and snatch a hit?

  • yes, unconditionally

  • sure, it's never really over

  • maybe, by the grace of god

  • potentially, she's a dark horse

  • probably not (self-inflicted)

  • no, now she's just a ghost

Woman's World sounds like a song from a car commercial or something more than a legitimate single. Catchy though. The production could've been driven harder though.

SEXY CONFIDENT!

I shouldn’t have listened to that. I feel like it’s cursed my day.

Even stripping away the willingness to work with one of the most questionable people in pop music, what made them think this was good enough to launch a new album in 2024?

It sounds and feels so tired in comparison to where pop is at the moment.

i can't believe that this is the same woman that gave us the One of The Boys and Teenage Dream eras.

somehow I don't think that will be necessary.

turgid, horrible (sung to the "tune" of sexy con-fi-dent). flush!!!

Exactly this. I can’t believe this snoozefest is an album launch single.

And I can’t believe she’s snaked her way to number 3 on New Music Friday

It's time to come out of the woods and say that I love this song, this music video and basically EVERY MUSICAL OUTING that Ms Perry has ever graced us with :D

I will say the production is perfectly enjoyable and that bridge between verse and chorus is genuinely good... if it were to lead into a better chorus the terrible lyricism could possibly be overcome. but no.

The song isn't any better or worse than most of her obvious hit-chasing material post-Teenage Dream/Prism in that most of the elements are there...she just doesn't do anything particularly interesting with them.

The video, on the other hand, I don't get at all. To me, it comes across as an outdated (by today's standards) version of what "female empowerment" has evolved to look like. The whole women as workmen using the urinals is a bit gross and much of it feels over-sexualised in quite a leery way, rather than empowering. But I guess I'm not who the video is intended to represent, so maybe women will perceive it differently.

I don't even mind it and I'm willing to overlook how painfully basic it is, until I remember that it's gonna be the best thing on the album.

The sad thing is she really thinks she served.

Payphone is yelpy codswallop - anyone still listening in 2024 has a LONG-TERM ILLNESS

this is a woman who doesn't know her own strength and keeps relying on seeking out hits, regardless of the content, just slapping refrigerator magnet-like phrases on some Ava Max adjacent house track that gays will describe as cvnty. meh.
