The verses on this are sensational. The chorus I don’t think is quite as good.

The backing track is obviously identical to "Halo", and it's not like the lyrics in this are any stronger, Kelly is just a much better vocalist and a more soulful delivery than Beyonce.

Why do you think none of Beyonce's big tracks are ballads? "Crazy In Love", "Single Ladies", "Drunken Love" and "Irreplaceable" are all novel as fuck. "Halo" was the only time where she sounded good on a pop ballad. Usually she's just a mess, like she is on "Listen"
Her voice isn't as versatile as Kelly's, who can tackle pop tracks and big ballads.

I think it's more than just the vocals. Melodically it's a more delicate, less shouty song than Halo which works in its favour.
