Melodifestivalen 2025: Deltävling Four (Malmö)

Random belated thoughts:

The Måns performance is very impressive, although the second half veers dangerously close to Michael Jackson at the BRIT awards territory. It's just begging for Sweden's answer to Jarvis Cocker (Shirley Clamp?) to run onstage and waggle their arse at him. But yeah, shame the song is so nothingy, but he's taking it. Poor Klara and her BUSY HANDS look very cheap by comparison. :(

KAJ isn't really for me, and I don't understand why they were dressed like they'd just got out of a networking event, but it fills an obvious space in the final lineup so I'm fine with it.

Poor Andreas. The rapid transition from overcome with joy at cracking the top four to sad resignation when Ella went to AC was like that scene in Vera Drake when the feds come in and expose her.

Nanne is a preciously daffy angel who must be protected at all costs.

Highlight of the night for me was the bit about the fake rival Melfest in 1994 featuring Ulrika Johnson, a young Jenny Silver and a haunted looking Anna Book from the lost years when she was presumably surviving on credit card fraud. I instantly want to watch the entire thing!

Tomorrow’s update will be more telling as it’ll include the first full day of streams after the show.

I’m not hugely surprised though, honestly what on earth is there to listen to in Revolution?

Yeah, I reckon Kaj will top Spotify tomorrow and most likely hold that position through to the final. But they won’t win Melfest.

I think he has it in the bag regardless, but it’ll be more interesting to see for how long he stays ahead of Klara.

What is Revolution actually about and what do any of the lyrics mean may I ask?

I actually can’t cope with how vapid and meaningless the whole thing is.
When hasn’t he been vapid and meaningless though. He couldn’t even read the autocue on ‘Eurovision - You Decide’ :eyes:

Damn they nailed it 👏:disco:

I feel like I must be missing something. It's FINE, but I don't see what it has that elevates it above the novelty entries that slide into the final every year.

It's very CATCHY but I feel like it's heading for 2nd/3rd on the public vote in the final at best. It felt quite clear that there's a bit of a distinction among Swedes between what they'll listen to and what performance they're inclined to vote for.

It’s the sort of thing I find tedious, like almost all novelty leaning entities but it is, at least, catchy.

It's more than that. As the Tattoo streaming stat implies, it does seem to have hit upon something to make it really connect organically.

Why isn't Klara getting Agnes to be one of the gay backing dancers for the final :oi:

From my point of view it’s exactly the right amount of silly and carefree (for the Swedes), so catchy it hurts and the performance is a triumph. It would be so easy to overcook it completely but everything just falls into place - feels like it’s been aeons since MF has managed to get a comedy entry this right.

And the Arja Saijonmaa line is instantly iconic.

I was borderline on Revolution from the beginning, until I saw the Michael Jackson esque jesus pose - then I hated it intently.
