Melodifestivalen 2025: Grand Final (Stockholm)

The juries are going to deliver Mans the victory on a platter :(

I'm expecting tomorrow to see a 90+ point walkover for KAJ in the televote, but for Måns to get near jury unanimity and KAJ to get relative dust.

This is exactly what's gonna happen, it happened with Yohio and other clear televote winners that they didn't want to win.

Is there a bloody National final that isn't rigged? Thank god we still have clear and transparent San Marino.

I mean, I'm not sure it's quite a rig in the instances where it's pretty much exactly what would happen with the juries at the contest too :D

You think RAI leaking the massive Israel televote in the semifinal was an accident?

I literally don't even understand what point you're making there. How does it count as rigging when the juries are delivering more or less a similar result in a national final as the song would get from juries across Europe at the contest? You can't exactly rig other countries' juries (short of outright bribery, which we know has obviously been clamped down on).

Israel last year if anything reflects it. No, it wasn't a coincidence that the result got leaked! Those same misgivings and the divided views on Israel were...exactly why it got such a mid result from the juries, because quite a few juries had at least a couple of members who were pretty deadset on spiking it. No corruption or rigging (although I'm not entirely sure here exactly what 'rigging' is precisely supposed to mean - the description "it's what 'they' want" covers essentially every result ever in the contest) - just pretty widespread views quite a lot of people had.

Just saw Fame. I waded through dozens of shit National final nobodies to get to them and they performed ONE FUCKING SONG. Fair enough, I couldn’t name a second one but Jesus Wept. Although we apparently have Velvet to come.
Hope you don't get a sense of deja vu.

I think Måns is going to win the televote too, so at least all the talk of jury riggery will be fairly academic.

I mean, I feel like I’m in the BBC News studio feeding information to a war correspondent about what’s happening in the field but they definitely did at least two if my Instagram feed is anything to go by, it’s just their new one is so vanilla you probably just nodded off.

Oh did they? The hosts were talking to them for like an hour so I just went to the other room.

Just looking back on last year's finalist list and I would honestly have been happy with 6 of them as winners. This year I can't think of a single song that seems worthy to win.

Are we having a pre show Moopymeet in the horrible arena bar?

I agree. On raw numbers KAJ might do it, but I expect Måns will win handily on the demographic breakdown.

I mean he literally already did two weeks ago, and Bara Bada Bastu is nothing if not instant.

I usually hate reaction videos, but this is quite fun

I love everyone being positive other than the dismissive Måns

KAJ were personally invited by Karin Gunnarsson and didn’t have to apply via the normal process. SVT handed them their phonebook of songwriters over to them for the Swedish lyrics and they got their first choice. Apparently that is unusual for Mello?

Måns winning Eurovision would be one of the worst things for the contest. Next year Johnny Logan would be applying to do it again.

Nah half the artists are invited each year. The bit about giving them their phone book of songwriters sounds impressive until you realise there are only about six names in there.

  • Haha
Reactions: GNL
I think Måns winning is a bit boring, but to be honest, this year is already oversubscribed with IT'S CRAZY! IT'S PARTY! style entries, so I think he'd probably be the better pick in terms of balance.

Though the ideal is obviously poor forgotten Klara. :(

I think Scarlet would be good to have in the mix in Basel.

I just meant SVT obviously knew KAJ would be a televote magnet to compete with Måns because they invited them before they even submitted BBB to them. Christer Björkman said they only invite international artists that are somewhat popular and liked in Sweden in the first place.

Don’t give her any ideas

:ShockedSenhit:

It just seems a little calculated from SVT to invite a group like KAJ and the so-called organic popularity over the last 2 weeks is probably what they hoped/predicted would happen in the first place.

I mean, not necessarily? The 14/15 invites do tend to be fairly spread. Some of them are big but some of them are often new artists. They were probably aware that a Finnosverige comedy troupe that had toured a fair bit would have their likely fair share of support if they pulled off an entry, but I doubt they'd have assumed they'd necessarily be able to outcompete a returning Eurovision winner who has been openly hungering for a second win...

I don't see Måns Zelmerlöw winning Eurovision again anyway. It feels like his score would follow the same trajectory as John Lundvik but I’m here for that meme. He should have left it another 1 - 2 years.
