@Suedey @Sheena did either of you buy the new best of? They've announced a 6xLP boxset, but the version of Spotify is made up of a lot of live tracks from previous releases, so unsure if that's a Spotify error and if the physical release has the original versions?

I haven't bothered but I thought it was meant to be a 'best of' combining live and studio tracks? I'm pretty sure the 3-CD edition is both live and studio versions.

Also the artwork is meh - that cover image is hideous.

If I were in a Mylene vinyl purchasing mood right now I would rather spend my money on the Live 2019 triple vinyl set to be honest (which I still won't but you know.)

I got it.

I thought it had sold out everywhere? It was that just my edition...

Oh sorry, I entirely misread that. Not 2019. I haven’t bothered with THAT. Ignore me.

Is there a reason that Point De Suture is not on Spotify..? Does Mylène HATE IT?
The only thing I can think of is Spotify DENYING the hideous cover art :D Shall we:

Just spotted this has now been added on spotify!

So in a post-Tischvision induced wine haze I went on Amazon FR and bought both Bleu Noir and Avant Que L'ombre double vinyls. I don't know why I did it, but I did.

I want them too but I’ve got all the coloured vinyls so I kinda want them to release the rest so they match.

I've been waiting for them to do that but I got impatient after wine last night and I needed those two on vinyl.

Well I've been in a huge Mylene mood again (QUELLE surprise); specifically the Innamoramento album. Also I think it is appropriate to rank the Desobeissance album now that the dust has settled. So yes, here I go - please do join me in ranking the MF studio albums:

1. AVANT QUE L'OMBRE
2. Bleu Noir
3. Innamoramento
4. Anamorphosee
5. L'autre
6. Interstellaires
7. Ainsi Soit Je...
8. Desobeissance
9. Point de Suture
10. Monkey Me
11. Cendres de Lune

OH I DON'T MIND IF I DO!

1. Innamoramento
2. Ainsi Soit Je...
3. Bleu Noir
4. Anamorphosée
5. Interstellaires
6. L'Autre
7. Avant Que L'Ombre
8. Desobeissance
9. Point De Suture
10. Monkey Me
11. Cendres De Lune

AMAZED at your number one. I like it, but it feels like it's a retread of old glories and quite gloomy in places. (AND THIS ISN'T MEANT TO SOUND SNIDE, I PROMISE) Were you a fan at the time? Because I wonder if it's because when you heard it you weren't judging by past glories.

The other big thing for me is how good Bleu Noir is up there with all her true imperial era. Indeed, the top 3 change positions every now and then, albeit that only the top 2 have ever been number one for me.

It's more of a sentimental choice for me. I was a semi-fan for a while but I was living in France (and yes, as cliched as it sounds, in love/a strange relationship with a Frenchman) when Avant Que L'Ombre was released and I just rinsed it out at the time. It was just nice sitting in a French cafe and watching the 'QI' video come on whilst we talked about all sorts of nothing. So yes that album turned me into a proper fan.
*sigh*

To be young again..!

And yes Bleu Noir is something else. On certain days it might even be my favourite MF album.

Monkey Me has really aged badly hasn't it?! I had a listen the other day on my drive into work and for most of it I just had a 'roll eyes' look on my face the whole time.. .

I just never got into Monkey Me. After Bleu Noir, it felt like SUCH a step backwards and almost as if it. I don't think I could hum you most of the songs on that album- I've probably only played it 4 or 5 times right through.

Interstellaires was great because it followed the Bleu Noir blueprint of being just a bit left field and, well, ODD. Desobeissance to a lesser extent.

BLEU NOIR RATE:

10 Oui Mais...Non
10 Moi Je Veux
10 Bleu Noir
08 N'aie Plus D'amertume
09 Toi L'amour
10 M'effondre
10 Lonely Lisa
09 Light Me Up
10 Leila
10 Diabolique Mon Ange
08 Inseparables
10 Inséparables

SO good. Did she have a falling out with Moby afterwards? I think I read something to that effect. I'd have loved another album with him otherwise...

I've just popped it on for a QUICK SPIN
I'm on Innamoramento at the moment but will be playing Bleu NOIR next.

I caved and bought the 2-LP set (in my drunk Amazon FR state a few pages ago). It just irritates that it's 2 LPs ... ugh.. but I'll get it out in a bit anyway.

Which reminds me - I never did get Desobeissance on vinyl. I see it's still in stock on Amazon FR. Ugh I can't help myself sometimes..

MYLENE FORUM NOW!

I still haven't bitten for the rest of the vinyls because I'll want the coloured ones to complete the collection when they eventually appear. I keep debating, though- but Bleu Noir in particular is annoyingly spaced out, yes. I do have the Desobeissance vinyl and the later reissue CD with the extra tracks- and then sold the original for the same price as I paid for the reissue :D

Did you notice LA BANQUE DE MYLENE has just farted out 2CD reissues of all the albums? With the second disc just instrumentals :D

Oui MAIS NON was just SO GOOD. I mean yes it's an obvious Red One collaboration and encapsulated that SOUND at the time but BY GOD it worked...

Oh it's beyond just a Red One carbon copy, though. It's his sound, but it has her stamp all over it too. It's fantastic and I think will be remembered right up there with her canon of big, big hits.

I quite liked Monkey Me at the time but it got old very quickly. I still quite like 'A L'ombre' as a single and I enjoy the video. Also like some of the deeper cuts like 'Ici Bas'. Interstellaires I would say is rather underrated by the FANZZZZ although I think Point de Suture is considered to be a masterpiece by some of them so ...

Me and a friend of mine still to this day have a thing where we just send each other the words "LONELY LISA" in the post/ via email/ on a text/ on a voice message etc. One day I'm going to put it on one of those flying aeroplane messages. Well, when they work out how to do it environmentally :D

Fucking hell :D :D

Point de Suture just felt like a retreat of Avant Que L'Ombre, which was already a retread of...you get the point.

Lonely LISA is just SO GOOD. I like the bonkers video too :disco:

The one thing I find rather PUZZLING about Bleu Noir is the album cover. It is certainly a 'choice'. To this day I don't know if I like it in some pretentious artsy fartsy way or if I absolutely HATE it!

There's also apparently a new DVD with all the videos from 1999 onwards coming.

Why they don't just put the lot out again in one uber package I don't know.

I'm VAGUELY tempted but I'd never watch it.

I agree. I remember being bemused at the time. I think the whole point was that it wasn't NORMAL Mylene. I think with that project, because it was so different to her usual work, they handled the promo, the artwork, everything differently so they could just say it was a "side project" if it bombed.

Same. I'd pay good money for a proper comprehensive box probably. I've still got the Music Videos DVDs (I, II and III I believe?) but I never play them. When/if I get the MF video urge I just watch them on YouTube and cast them on the TV..

I have to say though, the double vinyl is packaged beautifully with the artwork reproduced properly and lyrics printed. Considering my original CD is a flimsy little digipack I'm still convincing myself this was a GOOD PURCHASE

it will be until they reissue it in a 8 disc mega set with lots of liner notes and unreleased stuff...

...seven reissues down the line in 2039 :D

The only artist I know (dead or ALIVE) that rivals our MF in terms of fleecing the faithful is/was Bowie.

You clearly aren't a Saint Etienne fan... :D

And we can't leave Madonna out of this either in terms of pointless reissues and keeping the good stuff back.

I always thought the Et released GOOD STUFF out of the vaults though? Like unreleased songs / special one-offs etc. whereas Mylene, Bowie and to a lesser extent (only in terms of sheer volume) Madonna are very much of the money for old rope school..
