Queen Elizabeth II DEAD (1 Viewer)

Could the world please shut the fuck up about Holly & Phil? There are surely better things to be angry about?

They were filming footage for their show. And what? So next time they’re doing a special on a movie premier are they supposed to rock up to the Odeon and buy an ticket and hope to catch a selfie with Tom Cruise as he jumps into a car?

GET A GRIP

I agree, but it's Schofield, whose style of presenting is essentially SHOUT REALLY LOUD, salivating at the prospect of bullying clickbait lines out of weary guests, while maintaining a gruesome sense of faux outrage and a moralistic front more transparent than AIR. Let's enjoy his public shaming while it lasts.

I guess those figures are good? Could have gone either way. Does that include all the channels then, including Sky Badminton etc?

Of course showing across all the channels like that is blatant cheating. Hopefully it's reported to Ofcom and won't be renewed for a second season

Oh they were obviously doing nothing wrong whatsoever and people are being absolute morons about it, but the Phil and Holly backlash was long overdue and I'm enjoying it however it came about. It's one of the more enjoyable subplots to come out of this last week of HISTORY.

Is Holly evil? :o

I’ll give you Philip though :D
I truly believe that Holly is evil.

I'd file her in the same category as X Factor era Cheryl Cole: nation's sweetheart whose sole raison d'être is to be the nation's sweetheart, which is instantly suspicious.

Princess Diana’s funeral got 32 million viewers, and Boris Johnson's statement when he set out a plan to ease the first Covid lockdown got 27.7 million viewers so she just pipped that although I am not sure how many channels that was shown on? The highest viewing figures in quite some time, and beating the BBC figure for the England Euro Cup Final which had a peak audience of 17.4 million.

How many channels was it on?

I didn’t catch a second of it all day. Sorry queenie.

I meant in the U.K. :D

That was the UK. It was shown on BBC1, 2, ITV and Channel 4. Not Channel 5, but countless other random satellite channels showed it. Someone posted earlier that it was watched by over 100k on a Sky Sports channel which is quite SURREAL.

Jesus. Why do so many simultaneous broadcasts?

We do love a bit of overkill in this country don’t we.

And not only ITV - ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, CITV and ITV Be

Utterly fucking insane

I'm guessing that, if you switched on your telly to watch it and it was already on, you wouldn't bother to change over to the BBC.

Was there anything else on tv at the same time?

Was there anything else on tv at the same time?
Yes. Channel 4, under their charter, can't show the same thing as the BBC at the same time so they had tribute programmes with some live coverage of people who had gathered to watch it. Channel 5 showed The Emoji Movie and then one of the Ice Age films.

It’s the first time in ages that I’ve really noticed that I don’t watch live TV any more. I don’t have terrestrial telly and because I have NowTV rather than sky or Virgin I don’t follow any TV guide either. So I would never have realised what was going on re the funeral broadcast. No idea when it started, when it finished, who was showing what, nothing.

Did anyone SING A SONG?

I think this nails it - there's a LOT of people who don't watch live television any more. The last time I specifically tuned in to watch something before yesterday, it was when Sky Arts showed the film "King Rocker", the one Stewart Lee made about his favourite band, The Nightingales.

I can't imagine people watching a funeral on Catch-Up, even this one.

I was trying to remember when I actually watched a live stream and of course it was the day she died. I watched BBC live on iPlayer for a bit. Before that it was probably the Eurovision final, I watched some of that. Before that no idea.

On terrestrial tv only Channel 5 was showing something separate to the Queen’s funeral. I couldn’t tell you how many channels you actually get on sky/satellite tv but if only 50 channels across the board were broadcasting the funeral you would still have hundreds of channels to watch other things on.

We switched on a couple of random channels yesterday like Comedy Central and Dave. While they went back to regular programmes, they didn’t air any adverts at all and just had a RIP QUEEN screen on for a few mins instead between shows.

Small independent TV channels employing hundreds of people MUST NOT MAKE ANY MONEY on the day that an incredibly rich woman died. Okay.

I watched “the highlights” on This Morning but didn’t see any of yesterdays marathon.
