I heard an amazing pop fact over the weekend. Je M'Appelle was originally meant for MICHELLE MCMANUS. Just IMAGINE!

Oh I see there's already a thread for this. This can be the tenth anniversary special edition then.

Seriously, it's SHIT THE BED FANTASTIC from start to finish...even if I don't agree with that SILLY "13" rating up there

I spotified this and I can't help think if I was Britney's manager she would be recording some of these tracks for her new album

My favourite album of all time jointly tied with State of Mind. I've never heard Nothing in Common though! Can someone put it in Rachel's red glove?

THE CASE IS CLOSED
I don't NEGOTIATE with LOVE

WHY it wasn't an all conquering UBER SUCCESS, I will NEVER EVER KNOW

Does the DVD version still go for about a MILLION QUID ON EBAY? You had to search HIGH AND LOW to get it in the first place...

shamefully, it appears, i do not know anything beyond the singles.

was her cover of more more more not from this era as well? my memory truly is shot.

Technically it was from the Funky Dory era although Some Girls was released before it.

It was on the re-release of the album.

An unsurprising flop. Brilliant a pop album as this is, you'd struggle to sell it in huge numbers at any point during the last decade. Let alone in 2005 and certainly not from a pop "star" as flaccid as La Stevens.

I don't know actually..."Funky Dory" didn't do badly with only one real single on it, this was CHOCK FULL OF HITS :disco:

Listening to this again tonight and it is still fucking epic TWELVE years later.

Evergreen brilliance.

I still prefer the original tracklist order, mind.

I also prefer the original version of Nothing Good About This Goodbye, which I somehow acquired, and had a different intro.

I think So Good is STILL my most played song on iTunes, but then I hardly use that anymore anyway.

1. So Good
2. Crazy Boys
3. Je M'Apelle
4. I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)
5. Nothing Good About This Goodbye
6. Some Girls
7. Every Little Thing
8. Dumb Dumb
9. Funny How
10. Negotiate With Love
11. Secret Garden
12. It's All About Me
13. I Will Be There

The final tracklist is a bit more evenly spaced, but I quite liked the fact that the original blew its load early on and then becomes a little more leftfield at the end. 'I Will Be There' was a terrific closer as well.

Hmm, in the second version "Negotiate With Love" is far too late in the tracklisting for my liking.

I prefer the demo of "Nothing Good About this Goodbye", though, to the final one- even if it is just a little bit tweaked.

It actually annoys me that "So Good" was about as conventional a song as she had on this album and it ends up my favourite.

Hmmmm....think I prefer the amended track listing.

I replaced the album version with the demo one, the intro was much better. I think if I HAD to pick the weakest track, it would probably be It's All About Me, but even that's a nine.

Does anyone else remember the rumour that Je m'apelle was written for MICHELLE MCMANUS (Now monsta's BFF)

The promo version has a that uneasy bassline (THREAT MUSIC @Ag :D ) far more prominent than in the finished product and it adds to the overall feeling of gloom deliciously.

I don't hate the album version, but it's a lot more twee...

Someone be a dear and stick it in Rachel's vacant expression? I haven't heard it in ages.

Do we know if Kylie ever recorded Secret Garden? It's was so bloody obviously hers.

I think I've just managed to do it, I had it still in my Apple Mail app!
