WILL IT BE NOW AND FOREVER?

I listened to it once and then went on a Beyoncé deep-dive. Which I think says it all. As much I would love to partake in the shaking and crying since Steps returned, NOTHING they've done since coming back can touch their Imperial Era stuff for me. Don't at me about September Sun. Thx.

QUITE RIGHT that Faye got the first verse and I can live with the four word backing vocals allocated to the boys (or H?). Clara leads the chorus admirably - it is a little harder to tell the girls apart than usual, I guess because there isn't really the room for the Richards bellow on this song.

This song has already aged badly for me. I would have given this a 10 this morning, and I am already at the point of giving it an 8. It's all style no substance.

If the original is better than this jittery 10/10 wreck (Lisa) singing so much I don't know if I'm ready, that was a lovely afternoon high. And it sounds like a total grower.

The verdict from me and @HerSereneHighnessAnniFrid is that this loses all the cheap thrills of the original, and that there is less space in it. The frantic energy is the whole POINT, so we give this a score of 7.5 (just because Lisa gets a whole go)

I mean, yeah. They've upped the production but they've taken the oomph out of it. It's fine for what it is but I'm not sure that's the trade-off I'd have bargained for. But I can her a desperate ad-lib attempt by LSL in the final chorus, so I shall not complain too much.

They've actually slowed down the tempo a fair bit, haven't they?

It does lose a bit of the frantic energy of the original, but I think the Steps version is a better fit for daytime radio. Plus there will surely be a few :disco: remixes to come...

Oh my goodness, the tiny bursts of stage presence really are something. The 2:20 side shuffle is simply beautiful.

Ever since Steps signed a record deal with BMG last year to release their new album What The Future Holds, fans have been hoping to speak a collaboration with their labelmate Kylie Minogue into existence.

But is it just a pipe dream? The group have told OfficialCharts.com that “it would be silly not to” team up with the Australian star.

Steps, who have released their new track Something In Your Eyes today (Oct. 27), the second single from their new record, said they are big fans of Kylie's recent disco offerings including her single Say Something.

“I feel like we should [collaborate] because we share all the same team creatively, and I love Say Something as well, it’s really good”, H said, with Lee adding: “Why not? It would be silly not to.”

H recalled meeting Kylie backstage at the 1999 BRIT Awards, which culminated in a photo of the pair doing Steps' signature Tragedy pose.

“I remember when we were at the BRITs doing the ABBA tribute, it was just before Kylie exploded again with Spinning Around. She was there on her own with one other person. No one was bothering her and I went to chat with her… and I have a picture with her doing Tragedy, yes!”

Lisa quips “she should be so lucky!” about the possibility of a duet, referencing Kylie’s 1988 chart-topping single, before revealing she met Kylie for the first time just before lockdown.

“She was my last concert I went to before lockdown - she played Dubai,” explains Lisa. “We shared a lot of the same team and the same stylist. I met her backstage and she was a little bit smaller than me, I was like ‘YAY!’. She was lovely.”

Claire recalls when Steps appeared with Kylie on Chums - a parody of US sitcom Friends with Ant & Dec and Cat Deeley on SMTV, adding: "She was one of my first albums."

Now that BMG are involved in the selection process for the UK’s entry into the Eurovision Song Contest, would Steps ever consider representing at the competition?

“It’s a yes from me,” proclaimed H, before Lisa put her foot down: “And it’s a no from us!” H set the story straight by saying that as a collective they wouldn’t do it, “because it’s not a song contest now, it’s a political forum.”

However, Claire seemed more open to the idea, adding: “If it were ever an option, we would have to go into thinking we’re not going to win and it’s just for the experience. At the end of the day millions of people watch it and if you want to sell an album throughout Europe, it gives you that opportunity.”

H then reminds his bandmates that the contest now includes an interval performance, which last year was taken up by Madonna, to which Faye responds: “Well, that’s what we need to do – the interval performance!”

Her tours of DESERTED DUBAI HOTELS and hideous ‘high-end’ chain restaurants during lockdown was some of the bleakest things I’ve ever seen.

Queen Faye remains unproblematic and unbothered.

I know a lot of queens seem to stan LSL but everything about her screams narrow-minded Brexiter with very D@ily M@il opinions on things.

100%. But it's her desperation for the spotlight, for that one line in the verses, for that one extra sale to get her into the midweek Top 20 despite extremely limited vocal blessings that makes her incredibly compelling and fascinating.

Also, no-one cares who she fucking votes for or what she thinks. She’s desperate for fame and she’s in Steps and some things are more important than others

AGOG at the REVELATON that Kylie and LSL share the SAME STYLIST!

I WANT TO SEE THE RECEIPTS!

Unless she thinks Steve Anderson is a stylist because she was never actually needed in the studio.
