I'll go for 8 initially as well. Feels more inclined to be revised up than down with more listens.

Let’s see what happens with the VIDEO EFFECT in a few hours

Loving this POP STATEMENT

Feels like it refers back to some of their classics but keeps it fresh too.

“I don’t know how much we’re allowed to say, but there’s not going to be long gaps [between singles] because we have a good body of work waiting,” Buchanan said, prompting Buena to add: “Thank God!”

“We have another single coming that’s even more of a bop, but it could remind you of another [Sugababes] era, so it couldn’t come first,” Donaghy told NME.

Interesting that they departed BMG but really positive that it sounds like it is finally full steam ahead for the Babes.

i wanted to wait for the video effect and glad I did because it’s now a TEN. There’s just so many parts of the song that stand up on their own so well, let alone when put together. Bravo !

video's OK. kind of boring though. I don't think it adds anything at all to the song so maybe a slight missed opportunity there. loving SHIV on the TREADMILL mind you.

I'm a big fan of a talky-bit but I'm going to be brave and share my truth. The one in this song is the weak spot.

I think the video does the job nicely, especially considering it is their own enterprise now. Love Shiv's treadmill kicking things off, Keisha looking absolutely iconic and Mutya's lackadaisical approach to lip syncing.

They've all generally had good vocals I think, especially for a girl band.

It reminds me a little of In The Middle (which Moopy hates for some reason)

The backing track SLAPS. I wish it was more prominent.

I am of course loving that this has DEEP HOUSE undertones. It feels quite forward thinking for a pop song which, less face it, was always their BAG (well at least until version 3.0 or 4.0 depending on your take)

I would love a remix by Kaytranada or Black Coffee or someone like that :disco:

The video is so good.

Siobhan on the treadmill. Siobhan and Keisha on the catwalk. Keishas boob pop. The choreography. The handclap beat slap. Mutya.

10s, 10s, 10s across the boardt

How long has this incarnation of the babes been back together? This is surely the longest that any group of 3 of them have been together?

They came out as a rival faction to the other Sugababes at the London Olympics iirc. That's longer ago than One Touch was from Sweet 7 by quite a long shot. Admittedly they've been less prolific.

Decent placing on NMF Spotify playlist all things considered

not being top 10 on NMF sucks! Lizzo ahead?! they will need better spotify support than this to do well.

It's the Sugababes in 2025, doing 'well' in the traditional sense is unlikely to be an option.

It's a TERRIFIC ditty though, and shall hopefully keep them in the hearts of aging gays / festival bookers / the Radio 2 playlist committee

Is this unlikely to be a hit then? It seems very current and they are all still pretty cool to these eyes. They are maybe too old for Radio 1 now though. :(

in terms of charting yes. but with support it can do well on streaming and help to differentiate them from legacy acts who don't.

There’s someone about his song that makes me think charting/doing very well is possible. It’s got everything going for it.

someone on PJ shared some insider quotes suggesting the third (!) single is a big pop number so maybe this isn't the one they intend to push the most.

@dUb do we expect another single before tour kicks off?

From what’s been said, I think yes, at least another one.

I'm so glad I got tickets for the tour, I wasn't going to bother as have seen them so many times I wasn't sure I needed to rewatch the legacy hits... but if we get even a few new songs it'll be worth it

66k streams on Thursday which is a pretty good number. tomorrow we'll see what impact New Music Friday has had

If they went to the trouble of making a proper music video, I doubt they'll release another single very soon. "The Media Source" on YouTube commented on the music video that the second single will be out in June, which sounds reasonable. I don't know that "The Media Source" has any credibility, though.

I am more interested to see how a new album by them does, they might not get a hit single but to see them in the top 10/5 albums even with sales as low as they are would be a win. They have such a good rep as a festival act now that main stage Glasto, their own headline tours, topping Pride bills, thats a great career comeback for them :disco:
