The Israel-Gaza war and wider Middle-East tensions

What doesn't sit right for me is that the discussion is about whether or not the word being used for the mass killing of civilians is appropriate. There's no pejorative strong enough to adequately describe mass murder, no matter who the perpetrator is or what cause they're doing it in the name of.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove or show. There are anti-Zionist Jews? Yes, I know. That not all Palestinians are antisemites? Yes, I know. None of this negates my thoughts from earlier.

I've decided to stick to simply posting links and tweets to news and information I think is relevant to the ongoing situation rather than getting into any debates going forward
There are two sides to this story, yet you choose to post mostly unverified tweets that only serves your narrative belief.
So when I say this thread is mostly one-sided, and some of you ask why, this is your answer.

There’s been quite a few tweets shared from the Israeli soldiers that entered the hospital after they bombed it. It was laughable.

I’m happy to see things from both sides, and still able to make my own judgement on it. Disagreeing with the Israeli government and its army right now doesn’t make my any more anti-Semitic than supporting them would make me Islamaphobic.

Genuine question - why is the Jewish man in that post that Big Ron shared anti-Zionist? He’s not dismissing Israel he’s criticising their occupation of Palestine.

You do realise that to some anti-Zionists, Palestine INCLUDES the land occupied by Israel, yes?

I’m generalising for sake of brevity. The Rabbi explicitly criticises Zionists, so I’m extrapolating. I can’t be certain, obviously.

For the second point, we could get into a discussion of land boundaries but I don’t think it’ll be good for anybody’s patience. Eddie made the point as well.

Does he say that or are you putting words into his mouth?

I was specifically asking about the video that was posted.

Nothing to do with what he is saying - just that your definition of Palestine might be very different from the Palestine of (both Jewish and non-Jewish) anti-Zionists.

But fair enough.

Apparently they're in advanced stages of coming to an agreement on the hostages, I don't know how true that is, just what is being reported in some places.

This is an interesting take on some Israelis' frustrations with their own government, criticising the strategy in tackling Hamas before the attack and after it, and for Netenyahu initially refusing to meet with the families of the hostages. Their helplessness in waiting to find out the fate of their families is awful.

Sorry, I'll put it in a spoiler with a warning (it's bodies being buried in a mass grave in Gaza).

They'd better correct themselves.

In better news, it's good to see some of the Israeli hostages back with their families.

One of the comments says they've fixed it and blamed it on the news agency that the footage came from.

It's not strictly true. They've actually said the issue was the edit of the video- a longer version has been uploaded in which the speaker does say "Nobody felt our sufferings. Only Hamas felt our sufferings. We thank them a lot. And we love each other a lot". (Note: I'm "trusting" the new version which surely they would get right after all the scrutiny, I don't speak Arabic myself).

So it's an error of the subtitling being in the wrong place rather than anything else.

My work head has been fascinated about this because people were saying the translator was rubbish- but it's not a translation error, it's either a deliberate attempt at misleading or, what it seems to be, someone cropped the edit too soon and didn't align the subtitles properly.

what is the speaker doing?

does anyone know why he's (ostensibly) there?

I find it amusing when terrorists complain about things like that.
They were so brave commiting those crimes, yet they become these whiny cry babies once they get out.
This is jail for gods sake, not a 5 star hotel!
