I remember thinking the same. I don't know enough about opera to say she was even fantastic at that - it was more than she was doing as a child, wasn't it? But certainly when she moved to pop she just had a competent but unexciting voice.
 
Charlotte Church has a pretty versatile voice, she could definitely be Mushroom I think. I've always thought her vocal on this song in particular (from about ten years ago so long after both her opera and pop careers) is quite exceptional:

He had “Believe” on the costume, which made me think of Ted Lasso. And Gold a reference to Gold Blend?

She is also apparently needing the CASH after putting all her savings (:eyes:) in to turning a mansion in to a wellness retreat.
 
Also Charlotte Church was always tweeting the last 2 seasons how she wasn't on the show, but this year she's silent!

Days too late but I've just caught up; she referenced the lights going out and then had XLVII on her back after she turned around.

The lights went out halfway through Super Bowl XLVII; and the halftime act was Beyonce who was joined on stage by the rest of Destiny's Child.
 
This is a really good final. Poor Michelle but

If Mushroom is Charlotte Church she needs to STOP whatever she is doing ( not a lot?) and get back in the studio STAT. Girl can SANG.
 
Just watched the clips on YouTube after not bothering for a few weeks. Have they all stopped pretending to disguise their voices, or is just because it's becoming more apparent who they all are the more we see them?
 
It's got Robyn's back at #53 on iTunes, about 30 places higher than his, which is plea$ing to see at least.

I didn't realise his version was 4x platinum here. Plus 3x in the US.

I think it's generally smarter not to bother and to just focus on singing well. There's no benefit to being hard to recognise really.

Also the general population aren't as attuned to pop voices. My mum texted me last night "Still sure the Panda is Natalie Imbruglia?"

Clearly Davina has the same tin ear. Billie Piper really? And the Faye Tozer guess last night was ridiculous.

What’s annoying compared to the US version is when a panellist has a good or accurate guess, the rest of them almost never take any notice.

It only really works when there is a sing off, like when Katherine Jenkins pulled out her opera voice for the first time to save herself in series 1.

Silly Michelle for doing Loving You... what is the point without THAT NOTE?
 
I guess most of this show’s audience would know the song as Callum’s even though Robyn was top 10 too. I guess they’d do the same if someone did one of the big covers that Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Sinead etc did, it would be credited to them not the original artist.

She drew a good costume but I agree she is easily the best in terms of the interviews and reactions.

Robobunny has worn a bit thin for me now.
